Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon (knee) is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It sounds like Gordon is dealing with a right knee contusion, so fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned. Gordon finished with a season-high 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists during Tuesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. He's off to an excellent start to the season, so hopefully he'll be good to go on Friday. If not, Peyton Watson could be in line for extended run in the rotation.
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (ankle) will play on Tuesday versus the Brooklyn Nets. The veteran logged 40 minutes in Monday's overtime win over the Toronto Raptors, finishing with 17 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. He was listed as probable, so there was never much concern about his availability. Instead, fantasy managers were left wondering if Murray would be limited in the second game of a back-to-back. However, that won't be the case, with head coach Michael Malone stating he won't have a minutes restriction. With that in mind, keep Murray starting in all fantasy lineups.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon agreed to a four-year, $133 million contract extension with the club. The deal includes a player option in 2028-29. There were questions when this would happen. However, the team made the deal on the eve of the start of the NBA season. The 29-year-old has been instrumental to the Nuggets' success over the years, most recently averaging 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 2023-24. As long as Gordon remains healthy, he'll see more than enough minutes to be at least a top-50 fantasy asset at the position in points leagues. But his shooting from behind the arc will compromise his desirability in category formats.
Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson (hamstring) remained on the shelf for Tuesday's preseason outing against Oklahoma City. Denver had their fourth exhibition game on Tuesday, but Watson hasn't featured in any of them due to a hamstring injury. He has one more opportunity to shake off some rust before the regular season begins next week, as the Nuggets finish their preseason slate against Minnesota on Thursday. Watson's role on the team has steadily grown in his first two years in the league, but it's a tough challenge for him to take another leap, with Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. firmly ahead of him as starters at the forward positions.
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray tweaked his knee over the weekend. According to Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, Murray's knee began to feel "funny" during the warm-ups ahead of Sunday's preseason matchup versus Phoenix. Murray started the game but logged only 19 minutes and didn't take the court in the second half. He finished with 1-for-6 shooting, going 0-for-3 from three-point range. The Denver star couldn't get his shots to drop but did a decent job in other areas, picking up three rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Considering his previous health issues, Murray's status will be a huge concern for Denver, with the team scheduled to start the 2024-25 campaign next Thursday versus Oklahoma City. Russell Westbrook's fantasy stock would get a big boost if Murray were to be out for an extended period.
