The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up infield prospect Nick Yorke from Triple-A Indianapolis to the big leagues on Monday, according to sources. Yorke is with the team in St. Louis for their series against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium to begin the week. The 22-year-old was acquired by the Bucs from the Boston Red Sox at the end of July in the trade that sent pitcher Quinn Priester to Boston. Per MLB Pipeline, he's considered Pittsburgh's No. 6 prospect. The former first-rounder has hit a combined .303/.385/.449 with an .834 OPS, 12 homers, 72 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 123 games with Double-A Portland, Triple-A Worcester and Indianapolis this year to earn his first big-league call-up. With experience at second base, third, shortstop and the outfield, Yorke should play regularly down the stretch in Pittsburgh.

Yorke was considered Boston's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and joined the organization as a surprise first-rounder (17th overall) in 2020. The 22-year-old right-handed-hitting second baseman got off to a slow start in the low levels of the minors early in his pro career but is currently hitting .310/.408/.490 with an .898 OPS, six home runs, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 38 games for Triple-A Worcester after starting 2024 at Double-A Portland. Yorke has the potential to hit for average and also go for 20-plus homers a year and now has a better path to playing time at the big-league level now that he's in Pittsburgh. He can continue to be ignored in redraft leagues, but there's potential for him to make his MLB debut early in 2025.

Boston Red Sox second base prospect Nick Yorke went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs on Wednesday for Triple-A Worcester. Yorke's July is shaping up to be much like his June at Triple-A, now 9-for-28 (.321) this month after hitting .342 (27-for-79) in June. The 22-year-old had four home runs in 45 games at Double-A but now has six in just 27 games at Triple-A. It has been an impressive showing for the former first-round draft pick and he continues to make a push for a debut at the major league level. Look for him to get that chance at some point in the second half if he continues to hit.

Boston Red Sox second base prospect Nick Yorke is off to a good start at Triple-A Worcester since his promotion. Yorke has played 23 games for Triple-A and is hitting .337 with four homers and 15 RBI with a .968 OPS. The Red Sox' No. 6 prospect profiles as a pure hitter with plus power. The first-round pick of Boston in the 2020 draft hit two homers with five RBI on July 2 to continue to build off a productive June in which he hit .342 with two homers and 10 RBI. The 22-year-old could be pushing for a promotion if he continues this stretch of production.

Boston Red Sox second base prospect Nick Yorke extended his current hitting streak to eight games on Tuesday evening when he went 3-for-5 with two round-trippers. In this stretch, the number six ranked prospect in the Boston system on MLB.com has posted an excellent .357/.426/.548 slash line with six RBI, two stolen bases, and a 5:9 BB:K ratio. Yorke was promoted to Triple-A Worcester on June 6 and has performed exceptionally well with a .348/.437/.551 line with four long balls and 15 RBI through 22 games. The 22-year-old has a strong chance of making his major league debut in the second half of the summer and could be worth stashing in deeper redraft leagues if he continues this strong play at the top level of the minors.
