Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (wrist) left Saturday's game early after getting hit by a pitch in the wrist. Seager fell down in clear, visible pain and was immediately removed from the game. Before the injury, Seager launched his 15th long ball of the season. While there has not been any update on Seager's status, fantasy managers should pay close attention to the 30-year-old's status prior to Sunday's game. Seager has posted a strong .258/.342/.439 with 36 RBI and a 34:56 BB:K ratio in 71 games this season. However, he holds a stellar .280 xBA and .540 xSLG, which suggests he may have been very unlucky through the first half of the season. If Seager were to miss an extended period of time, Josh Smith is the top candidate to receive the majority of starts at shortstop.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is getting a breather on Wednesday in Milwaukee and will not start against the Brewers in the series finale. In his absence, Josh Smith will play shortstop and bat third in the order against left-hander Dallas Keuchel, who will be making his first start for the Brewers after being acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. Seager gets the day off after starting each of the team's last 11 games while going just 7-for-42 (.167) in that span with a stolen base. Despite the recent skid, the two-time World Series MVP is a must-start every day that he's in the lineup for Texas. Smith is batting a cool .300 (70-for-233) on the year and has been even better against lefties with a .350 average (21-for-60) with two of his seven homers on the year.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager continued his power surge during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The left-handed slugger blasted a home run for the third straight game on Wednesday. It marked Seager's eighth home run in his last eight games. The 30-year-old has been on a tear, Seager raised his OPS from .681 to .828 during this eight game span. Seager is a must-start fantasy player in all fantasy formats right now.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager continued his strong offensive month in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks, going 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk, and two strikeouts. Seager put his team ahead for good in the fifth inning, ambushing a Brandon Pfaadt breaking pitch into the left-field seats. The 30-year-old's season numbers leave a little to be desired in batting average, but he has put together an excellent May, slashing .287/.388/.644 with 10 HR and 19 RBI in 84 at-bats. Seager has been a top fantasy contributor throughout his career when healthy, and it appears that he has gotten things back on the right track for 2024.
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will get a day to rest on Thursday in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies. In his absence, Josh Smith will handle shortstop duties and will bat third against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler. Ezequiel Duran is manning the hot corner and batting eighth for the Rangers. Seager appears to just be getting a regular day of rest during a day game after he cleared the fences in three straight games. After a slow start to the year in 2024 after having offseason sports-hernia surgery, Seager is starting to hit a stride at the plate and is currently batting .278 (20-for-72) with six of his eight home runs on the year and 11 RBI in 19 games in the month of May. He's a must-start when he's in the Texas lineup. Smith has been swinging a hot bat this year as well and is in an enviable lineup spot on Thursday, but the matchup against Wheeler will be a challenge.
