Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds has been activated from the bereavement list on Monday. The 29-year-old sat out the weekend series which might've been a good time considering he has been dealing with a back issue. He'll make his return to the lineup on Monday which sends outfielder Jack Suwinski back to the minors. Reynolds will bat second and start in left field versus right-hander Jake Bloss. Fantasy managers who have Reynolds rostered can get him back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Bryan Reynolds on the bereavement list on Thursday. They plan to add another player to the roster in a corresponding move before Friday's series opener in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. RotoBaller offers up its condolences to Reynolds and his family, but this move does buy him a few more days to rest up after he was scratched from Wednesday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals due to back spasms. Now that the 29-year-old All-Star is on the bereavement list, he could miss the entire series in Arizona. When healthy, the former second-round pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2016 out of Vanderbilt has been a must-start in fantasy lineups in his sixth year in the league, hitting .288/.353/.485 with an .839 OPS, 18 home runs, 61 RBI and five stolen bases in 101 games.
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that outfielder Bryan Reynolds (back), who was scratched from Wednesday's series finale against the visiting division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, is fine. Reynolds was moving around like he normally would by the end of Wednesday's game. His back "locked up on him" while he was getting out of his car on Wednesday morning and said there was simply not enough time to get warmed up because of the fact it was an afternoon game. Reynolds will travel with the team to Arizona for the start of a series on Friday against the Diamondbacks, but that doesn't mean the All-Star will be back in the starting lineup. The 29-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now. When he returns to the Bucs' lineup, Reynolds needs to be returned to all fantasy lineups.
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds (back) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the visiting division-rival St. Louis Cardinals due to back spasms. Reynolds is currently being examined and treated by the team's medical staff and he's considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers obviously need to remove him from their starting lineups for Wednesday's slate. Joshua Palacios will get the start in left field in his place and will bat sixth in the order against Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore. This is the first time all year that the 29-year-old Reynolds will miss a game. The good news is the left-handed-hitting All-Star will have a scheduled day off on Thursday before Pittsburgh starts a weekend series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks, so perhaps Reynolds back will be feeling better by then.
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds went 4-for-5 at the plate on Saturday with four singles and four RBI. Reynolds knocked his first two-run single of the game in the seventh frame to score Ke'Bryan Hayes and Connor Joe. Then, in the ninth inning, the 29-year-old hit his final single, which brought in Connor Joe for the second time and Yasmani Grandal. Through 95 games this season, the switch-hitter sits with a stellar .281/.342/.478 line, 17 home runs, 60 RBI, five stolen bases, and a 33:90 BB:K ratio. Since posting a remarkable 25-game hitting streak through June, the Vanderbilt product entered this game with a solid .245 AVG. Reynolds should be seen as a lineup staple in all leagues going forward and a viable play in all DFS formats.
