Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, and a strikeout in Monday's 9-5 Cactus League loss to the Mariners. The 31-year-old got a late start to spring after suffering a moderate left oblique strain in the World Series, so seeing him flash his power is good. However, he is batting just .167 in 24 at-bats this spring. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried, as Garcia has been a higher-end fantasy option each of the last three seasons. If healthy, he should provide a middling batting average with high power upside and moderate speed upside.
Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia (oblique) is making his Cactus League debut on Wednesday versus the Colorado Rockies, serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the lineup. Garcia suffered a moderate left-oblique strain during the World Series last fall, and the Rangers chose not to take any chances with the 31-year-old outfielder early in spring training. Garcia is ready to roll now and will be ready for Opening Day on March 28. After hitting a career-high 39 home runs, driving in 107 and stealing nine bases in 148 regular-season games last year in his second All-Star campaign, he's going to be very popular in fantasy drafts as a low-end No. 1 outfielder/high-end No. 2 while hitting in the heart of a strong Rangers batting order in 2024.
Outfielder Adolis Garcia and the Texas Rangers reached an undisclosed two-year deal on Thursday to avoid a salary arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Thursday. Garcia had filed for $6.9 million for the 2024 season and was offered $5 million by the Rangers. The 30-year-old Cuban is under team control for one more year in 2026. He made his second All-Star team in 2023 by hitting .245/.328/.508 with career-highs in OPS (.836), home runs (39), RBI (107) and runs scored (108) in 148 regular-season games played. Garcia had eight home runs in the playoffs to help lead the team to their first World Series championship as well. He ran less last season, but he made gains in most other categories and should continue to be a valuable contributor in homers, RBI and runs scored in a strong Rangers lineup in 2024. UPDATE: Garcia will receive $14 million over two years guaranteed with performance bonuses.
