Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (rib, rest) was held out of the team's first practice of the week on Tuesday. With rest also listed next to Ertz's name on the first injury report of the Divisional Round, it's likely that his rib injury won't be serious enough to keep him sidelined this Saturday versus the Detroit Lions, but we'll keep a close eye on his practice status the next two days. As long as the 34-year-old veteran gets back onto the field the next two days, he should be available this weekend on the road in Motor City. Ertz became a much bigger part of the Commanders' offense in the second half of the season, but he was a disappointment in the three-point wild-card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, catching just two passes for 23 yards. In a game in which the Commander will likely have to throw often this Saturday, Ertz is a prime bounce-back candidate for fantasy managers.
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz brought in two of his four targets for 23 yards during their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the wild-card round. Ertz took the backseat in this contest as Terry McLaurin and Dyami Brown did most of the damage through the air. However, Ertz's four targets tied him for the fourth-most on the team. The 34-year-old was carrying a two-game touchdown streak into Sunday's playoff game. Over the final seven games of the regular season, the veteran tight end found the back of the end zone six times and averaged 39 yards per game. Ertz will look to rebound next weekend when the Washington Commanders travel to Detroit to face the top seed in the NFC.
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz has enjoyed a fantastic season and should be viewed as a top pick at tight end during Wild Card Weekend facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran tight end has found the back of the end zone six times over his previous seven contests. Over his past two games, Ertz has seen 6.0 targets per game and has tallied 58.0 yards per game. During this stretch, he scored three times, including twice in their playoff-clinching victory over the Atlanta Falcons. With Noah Brown (kidney) on the injured reserve, Ertz should continue to see a high volume of targets his way, especially in the red zone. During this seven-game stretch, Ertz saw six targets within the five-yard line and seven within the ten-yard line. He is a high-floor TE1 with TD upside facing a struggling Tampa Bay secondary.
