Tyler Allgeier Underwhelms As Second Fiddle In Week 7

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier returned to his usual backup role in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks, ceding a full workhorse load to backfield mate Bijan Robinson. It seemed the 24-year-old's role was expanding, culminating with an 18-carry, 105-yard outburst in Week 6, but Allgeier finished Week 7 with just five carries compared to Robinson's season-high 21 rush attempts, totaling 36 yards on the ground while adding one catch for nine yards. He was never destined to out-touch Robinson, but his efficiency (5.5 yards per carry) and proven ability to carry the load pointed to more opportunities that ultimately did not come to pass this week. Despite averaging 7.2 YPC in Sunday's contest, Allgeier still looks like a volatile, game-script-dependent fantasy asset right now and remains a strong handcuff to Robinson should anything happen to Atlanta's lead back. The Falcons' Week 8 opponent, Tampa Bay, has generally been stout against the run, which doesn't bode well for Allgeier's near-term prospects.

Tyler Allgeier A Solid Flex Play In Week 7

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier broke out with 105 rushing yards on 18 attempts and added one score in last week's contest versus the Panthers. While it was an outstanding performance, fantasy managers shouldn't expect that on a weekly basis. However, Allgeier is averaging 5.5 yards per carry, which is sixth-best in football, so the 24-year-old has probably earned himself double-digit carries from here on out. Week 7's matchup with Seattle has one of the highest projected totals on the slate, and while Atlanta may prefer to pass (58.8%), these teams both have some of the highest pace-per-play rates in the NFL, so there should be plenty of offensive opportunities on both sides. Additionally, the Seahawks have been gashed on the ground on multiple occasions this year, even allowing Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo to combine for 172 yards rushing last week. Fire up Allgeier as an RB3/flex play this week against a Seattle team yielding 5.0 yards per carry, which is fourth-worst in all of football.

Tyler Allgeier Goes Over 100 Yards Rushing, Finds End Zone In Win

Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on 18 totes in Sunday's 38-20 victory over the Panthers, adding one catch for three yards as well. The third-year back has been good when given an opportunity, averaging 5.5 yards per carry so far this season. Bijan Robinson was productive as well, rushing for 95 yards and two scores, but with Robinson popping up on the injury report earlier in the week and the Falcons in control of this game, Allgeier garnered more opportunities than usual. Prior to this contest, he had yet to reach double-digit carries in a game this season. Next week the Falcons draw a weak rush defense against Seattle, a defense that is allowing 5.0 yards per carry which is sixth-worst in the NFL. The 24-year-old remains a strong insurance policy for Robinson managers and will be worthy of FLEX consideration in better matchups.
