Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon overcame a rare fumble by helping his team secure victory with a 100-yard rushing effort and a game-clinching touchdown in the Texans' 32-12 win against the Los Angeles Chargers in a Wild-Card playoff game. In total, the first-year Texan finished with 106 rushing yards on 25 carries and caught one of two targets for 13 yards. The veteran back's best work came after fumbling earlier in the game, breaking a streak of more than 1,000 touches without losing a fumble. Mixon rushed for 58 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown that iced the game, on Houston's final scoring drive. He and the Texans will advance to play a to-be-determined opponent in the Divisional Round.
A midseason hot streak had Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon among the top options in fantasy football, but things have changed with Houston entering the playoffs against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 28-year-old is averaging 38.7 rushing yards across his past six games, and the Texans' offense has struggled overall, scoring a measly 15.6 points since December. Now comes a Chargers defense that ranks third against fantasy running backs and fourth in scoring percentage allowed, which are not encouraging signs. Mixon is still on the fringe of being a RB1 due to his unchallenged workload in the Houston backfield, but managers in playoff formats shouldn't bet the farm on a huge performance, either.
With the Houston Texans already set as the No. 4 seed in the AFC playoffs, the team gave running back Joe Mixon the day off after just six touches for 28 total yards on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The veteran back caught his only target for five yards and ran for 23 yards on five carries before Houston began pulling key players. For fantasy purposes, playing any Texan under Sunday's circumstances was a risk, and after Houston took a 7-0 lead, starting quarterback C.J. Stroud was replaced by Davis Mills as the Texans began looking toward the postseason. Mixon and the Texans will start their playoff journey next week when they play host to a Wild Card game.
