San Diego Padres infielder Tucupita Marcano is facing a potential lifetime ban from the game for betting on baseball, according to sources. Major League Baseball continues to investigate Marcano, but they could hand down their penalty against him soon. Along with facing a potential lifetime ban, the 24-year-old has been on the injured list all year as he recovers from a torn ACL he suffered last year while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Venezuelan infielder made his major-league debut in 2021 with the Padres and has appeared in the majors each of the last two years as well, batting just .217/.269/.320 with five home runs, 34 RBI, seven stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 149 games as a depth piece for the Padres and Pirates.
