New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle) will practice on Tuesday in training camp. "He's good," head coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday. Tracy was carted off the practice field with an ankle injury last Tuesday, so it's highly encouraging to already see him back in action for the Giants. The 24-year-old fifth-round rookie from Purdue is tentatively slotted in as New York's No. 2 option in the backfield behind workhorse starter Devin Singletary this summer, and it remains to be seen if he'll get a chance to build on that status in Saturday's preseason finale against the New York Jets. Tracy isn't going to start the campaign with standalone fantasy value, but he certainly appears to be the preferred handcuff for Singletary's managers.
New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle) appears to be in good shape after his incident a few days ago. The rookie back was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice due to an ankle injury. Now, Tracy was seen running and cutting on the field with the training staff on Thursday. This is an odd turn of events, but it sounds like Tracy has avoided a serious injury. There seems to be a good chance of Tracy getting back on the practice field next week. Fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates.
Updating a previous report, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the injury New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle) suffered is not "long-term," and Tracy's status is "week-to-week." Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief after Tracy was carted off earlier in the day and diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain before being placed in an air cast. Tracy has been listed as the No. 2 running back for the Giants as the backup to Devin Singletary, but any missed time would lead to additional work for Eric Gray. Tracy is a rising sleeper in fantasy circles as a late-round running back worth taking a flier on in drafts. Keep tabs on Tracy's status, but this news should still keep him very relevant as a bench player with upside heading into 2024.
New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle) was carted off the field at practice on Tuesday. Tracy was ultimately diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain which gives the Giants a sigh of relief. Tracy is currently listed as the Giants' No. 2 running back behind Devin Singletary. The fifth-round pick out of Purdue has been the talk of camp. Eric Gray is in line to see additional work as long as Tracy is out. Tracy has been a rising sleeper candidate and should be monitored moving forward.
New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (leg) was carted off the practice field on Tuesday following a kickoff drill, team beat reporter Pat Leonard reported on X. Leonard wrote that the injury looked bad, and Tracy had an air cast put on his leg. This is an unfortunate development for the 2024 fifth-round pick, as he has been making waves in training camp thus far. There will surely be further updates on his status, but if he has to miss time, it could clear an easier path for Eric Gray to occupy the RB2 role behind veteran Devin Singletary. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for updates.
