Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley took 22 carries for 95 yards and caught four of five targets for 21 yards during the team's 22-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The 27-year-old had a great performance throughout the contest but had a costly drop on 3rd and 3 that would have sealed the win for the Eagles. Despite that blunder, Barkley was a fantasy stud again without finding the end zone this week. With none of the other backs ever really getting involved and star wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) set to miss a few more games, Barkley is set up to be a top-five option again in Week 3 as the Eagles will take on the New Orleans Saints.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will face off against the Atlanta Falcons in his first home game as an Eagle on Monday night. The star running back put any doubts that fantasy managers had to rest last week when he found the end zone three times against a solid Green Bay defense. He now faces an Atlanta defense that held the combo of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren out of the end zone last week and kept them each to just 3.5 yards per carry. There should be no reason to expect a scaled-back workload this week, especially if star receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) is ruled out or is played at less than 100%. Fire up Barkley with confidence as a high-end RB1 heading into Monday night.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had a stellar showing in the 34-29 win over the Packers in Brazil. Making his debut with the Eagles on Friday night, Barkley ran the ball 24 times, amassing 109 yards while finding the end zone twice. It didn't end there, with the former Giant catching both targets for 23 yards and a touchdown. The veteran signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles this offseason after spending his entire career with the Giants. His talent has never been questioned. However, he'll need to stay healthy, which has been an issue in the past. With a win in the books, the Eagles will fly home for some rest before preparing for a Week 2 Monday Night Football showdown with the Atlanta Falcons. As always, Barkley would is considered a must-start in all fantasy formats for that one.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will head to Brazil in Week 1 to take on the Green Bay Packers on Friday night. The former New York Giants back did not play a single snap in the preseason and should be a full strength after missing some practice time a few weeks ago due to a back injury. The Eagles offensive line is the best Barkley has ever had in his career by a wide margin and his first matchup against the Packers is on he can make a strong statement in to open the regular season. Green Bay gave up the fifth-most rushing yards in 2023 and did much better at defending the pass. Philadelphia is ready to unleash their highly paid free agent acquisition and fantasy managers should consider him a solid RB1 heading into Friday night.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (back) returned to training camp practice on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's practice early to have his lower back checked out. Fantasy managers were holding their collective breath on Tuesday when it was announced that Barkley left the practice field and didn't return. It appears that the 27-year-old avoided a serious injury, although there's a good chance he won't suit up in Saturday's preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings. Injuries are always a concern with the former second overall pick of the New York Giants in 2018 out of Penn State, but when healthy, Barkley could have even more fantasy upside as a high-end RB1 in 2024 in his first year with the Eagles. Kenneth Gainwell and Will Shipley would likely form a two-man committee backfield for the Eagles this year if Barkley misses any time along the way.
