Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) was able to put in a full practice on Wednesday, signaling that he has a good chance at making his 2024 debut this Sunday against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. Jerome Ford (hamstring), who was injured in the Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, was a DNP on Wednesday, while D'Onta Foreman (groin) was limited. The Browns still must activate Chubb from the Physically Unable to Perform list before he's eligible to play, but that could be coming later this week as long as he doesn't suffer a setback on Thursday or Friday. The 28-year-old required two surgeries for a serious left-knee injury he suffered in Week 2 last year, so fantasy managers may want to temper expectations for his productivity and workload right away. If Chubb plays this weekend, he'll be a risky RB3/flex, at best, for fantasy managers.
Per Tom Withers of the Associated Press, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) is trending toward returning to the field in Week 7. Head coach Kevin Stefanski reports Chubb is taking it "day to day" this week. If that's the case, it's excellent news for the team and an incredible feat from the 28-year-old just 13 months removed from a brutal knee injury. It also comes with superb timing, as running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) was forced from Sunday's loss to the Eagles early and did not return. Ford is considered week-to-week, so it's possible that if Chubb is active, he gets more work than he initially would have. However, he would undoubtedly be on a snap count, and D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong Jr. would likely handle most of the Browns' backfield work. Logically, the former Georgia Bulldog would need to log at least one full practice before suiting up for the contest against the Bengals -- a feat he has yet to accomplish. For now, it's best to take a wait-and-see approach for fantasy managers who have been holding onto him.
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) is scheduled to make his 2024 debut next Sunday when his team hosts the Cincinnati Bengals in a home matchup, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. It will be his first regular-season action since Week 2 of last season when he was forced from the Browns' contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers after suffering a gruesome, complex knee injury. It's unclear what capacity that will be in, and it is fair to wonder whether or not he'll be on a snap count, but it's a remarkable feat for the 28-year-old. For one more week, it will be running backs D'Onta Foreman and Jerome Ford shouldering the load in the backfield before the former second-round pick's return. When that comes to pass, Chubb will likely make this backfield a three-man rotation until he is healthy -- or effective -- enough to siphon touches away from his teammates. That duo will face an Eagles squad in Week 6 that's let up the eighth-fewest yards on the ground to opposing defenses (515) but the third-most yards per carry (5.0).
Cleveland Browns running backs Nick Chubb (knee) and Nyheim Hines (knee) have both been ruled out for the Week 6 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. Both Chubb and Hines opened their 21-day practice windows last week but remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list and will not make their 2024 debuts this weekend. There next chance to return will be in Week 7 versus the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. The 28-year-old Chubb should be stashed in the majority of fantasy formats, but it's still unclear when exactly he'll return, and when he does, the Browns figure to ease him back in after he suffered a gruesome knee injury in Week 2 of 2023. At least for another week, Jerome Ford will lead the Browns' backfield and will be a low-upside RB2/3 against Philly given how bad Cleveland's offense has looked in 2024.
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) was listed as limited for the second straight day this week on Thursday. D'Onta Foreman (ankle) was also limited after picking up a DNP on Wednesday, giving him a shot to play in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Backs Nyheim Hines (knee) and Pierre Strong Jr. (hamstring) were also limited for a second straight day. Chubb returned to practice for the first time last week after suffering a gruesome knee injury in Week 2 of 2023. He was also limited all of last week but didn't make his 2024 debut in the Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders. The 28-year-old could come off the Physically Unable to Perform list and be active this Sunday, but fantasy managers would be foolish to throw him into their starting lineups right away. Whenever Chubb is activated, the Browns are expected to mix him in slowly alongside Jerome Ford and Foreman.
