New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said on Tuesday that wide receiver Mike Williams (head) cleared the league's concussion protocol after he was being examined by trainers late in the Monday night loss to the division-rival Buffalo Bills. Williams suffered a head injury late in the game in Week 6 and was unable to catch all three of his targets to add injury to insult. He also received criticism from quarterback Aaron Rodgers for running the wrong route on the final play for the Jets that led to an interception. It's just all bad for the 30-year-old. The Jets finally acquired receiver Davante Adams from the Raiders on Tuesday, and now the team is planning to ship Williams out of town. At this point, a change of scenery might be best for Williams, who has caught just 10 passes for 145 yards and no touchdowns in six games for Gang Green this year.
The New York Jets are planning to make wide receiver Mike Williams available for trade after acquiring All-Pro wideout Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, according to sources. Williams signed a one-year deal this offseason, but the current receiver room is too crowded now after the Adams acquisition. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini suggested this might be the case after Williams ran the wrong route on an interception late in the Monday night loss to the division-rival Buffalo Bills and was called out by quarterback Aaron Rodgers for it. In addition to not catching any of his three targets on Monday, the 30-year-old was being evaluated for a head injury late in the contest. At this point, a trade might be the best thing for Williams' fantasy value after catching only 10 passes for 145 yards and no touchdowns in his first six games with the Jets in 2024.
New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams (head) failed to catch any of his three targets in a 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. Williams was shaken up on the Jets' final offensive play of the game when he went down attempting to catch an Aaron Rodgers pass that was ultimately intercepted. The Jets took him to be evaluated for a concussion following the completion of the Monday night game. Williams has seen his production decline over the past two weeks, as he has just two catches for 25 yards on seven targets over that span. Look for the Jets to update Williams' status at some point early in the week as they begin preparing to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.
New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams had been trending up in recent weeks but he took a step back in Week 5, catching just two balls for 25 yards in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He will look to bounce back at home against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6's Monday night game. It isn't a great matchup for Williams, however, as the Bills are allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year. Williams could benefit from the extra defensive attention paid to Garrett Wilson and, to a lesser extent, Allen Lazard, but he is still not a strong fantasy option heading into Week 6. Treat him as a WR5 this weekend.
New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams caught two of his four targets for 25 yards in a 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. Williams had been trending upward in the Jets offense over the past few weeks but he took a step back on a day where the team threw the ball 54 times against a leaky Minnesota secondary. The veteran wideout now has 10 catches for 145 scoreless yards over five games this season. He will look to carve out a larger role in his team's offense in Week 6's Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills.
