Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Jordan Whittington is expected to see more involvement during Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The sixth-round rookie opened the season as depth, but now could be asked to possibly start. The Rams are without Puka Nacua (knee) and Cooper Kupp (ankle) for multiple weeks, which is a huge blow. That means, Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson figure to be the primary passing options. Tutu Atwell and Whittington could split up the third wideout role. Whittington hauled in both his targets for 22 yards last week. He's too risky to start in Week 3, but is worth stashing in deep leagues and dynasty formats.

However, it's worth noting that Whittington only played two snaps during the season opener. The assumption is that Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, and Tyler Johnson figure to be the starting trio for this offense. That doesn't mean Whittington can't be involved as well, but he probably won't see enough targets to warrant rostering in most formats outside of dynasty leagues.

The rookie out of Texas continues to turn heads this preseason as he recorded five catches for 52 yards on eight targets against the Chargers. Rams coach Sean McVay has spoken about the fact that he believes Whittington will have a role in the offense during his rookie season this year. Alongside Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, Whittington is an interesting name to monitor ahead of draft season.

Whittington averaged 12.3 yards per reception and caught a long pass of 30 yards in the contest. A sixth-round pick out of Texas, Whittington was impressive in his debut for Los Angeles. After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay said of Whittington: "He's going to be a factor for us". This is a name to monitor in the preseason for the Rams offense.
