Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon continued his excellent form in a 24-22 loss at Green Bay, finishing with 115 yards rushing, two touchdowns, and two catches for nine yards. The veteran back found the end zone twice in the first half, scoring from two and four yards away. The former Oklahoma Sooner looks to be in a good spot within a talented Houston offense in which he is afforded volume, red-zone touches, and regular work in the passing game. Mixon will look for more of the same when the Texans play the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) has been removed from the injury report and is cleared to play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The veteran running back returned from a three-game absence last weekend, so while his appearance on this week's injury report was noteworthy, managers were never overly concerned about his status. Mixon has been special in his two healthy games this season, averaging 130.5 rushing yards, 24.5 receiving yards, and 1.5 touchdowns per contest. Those games were against the Colts and Patriots, which are two easier matchups, and he does face a tougher opponent this week against Green Bay. Still, Mixon has the talent to be a matchup-proof running back in fantasy football. He ranks as a low-end RB1 once again.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) was limited in practice for the second straight day of the week on Thursday. Mixon made his return to the field in the Week 6 win over the New England Patriots after missing three games due to an ankle sprain and saw 13 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 30 yards and another trip to paydirt. The Texans are most likely giving the 28-year-old some extra rest this week after his return in Week 6. Unless he suffers a setback, fantasy managers should leave Mixon locked into their starting lineups this week for Sunday's game on the road against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Mixon has only played in three of six games in his first year in Houston, but he's averaging 5.5 yards per carry and has scored three times.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Mixon has been battling an ankle sprain for several weeks but he returned to the field in Week 6 against the New England Patriots without any limitations. As a veteran, it is not uncommon for Mixon to receive rest or limited practice participation in the middle of the week. When healthy, Mixon has been excellent in 2024. In two full games played, he has rushed for 261 yards and two touchdowns. He has added 49 receiving yards and a touchdown in those games as well. The Texans seem intent on riding Mixon throughout the season which is great for fantasy managers provided he can stay healthy. Mixon will slot in as a high-end RB2 or low-end RB1 against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon delivered in his first game back from an ankle injury, compiling 132 total yards, two catches, and two touchdowns in a 41-21 defeat of the New England Patriots. The first-year Texan caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Stroud in the first quarter, then went to work on the ground, finishing with 13 carries for 102 yards. Mixon's 20-yard touchdown carry in the fourth quarter was his first scoring run since Week 1, and his 30 receiving yards ranked third on the team Sunday. The former Cincinnati Bengal continues to be option No. 1 out of the Houston backfield as the Texans prepare for Green Bay in Week 7.
