Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) said that his surgically-repaired right wrist is not impacting his ability to throw the ball down the field. Burrow was seen flexing his right wrist on the sideline of the Week 1 upset loss to the New England Patriots, but he said it's normal and he does it all the time to keep the joint loose after his offseason surgery. The 27-year-old practiced in full on Wednesday and will be ready to roll for a tough Week 2 date this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Burrow struggled mightily in the season opener without receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) and after not practicing with Ja'Marr Chase at all during training camp and the preseason. Higgins could miss another game this weekend. We're expecting Burrow and Cincy's offense to eventually figure it out, but after the ugly Week 1 performance, Burrow is more on the QB2 radar than the QB1 for fantasy managers.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow couldn't lead his team to a win over the Patriots on Sunday. Tee Higgins (hamstring) wasn't available, and Ja'Marr Chase (illness, hold-in) was cleared shortly before opening kick. As a result, the signal-caller struggled, throwing for only 164 yards off 21-for-29 passing. He added four carries for 15 yards. Without question, Burrow will need Higgins and Chase on the field for the Bengals Week 2 meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. If Higgins remains out and Chase doesn't get a new contract, fantasy managers may want to strongly consider keeping Burrow out of the starting lineup.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) logged another full practice on Friday, meaning he should be good to go in Week 1 versus the Patriots. Unfortunately, the signal-caller could be without his top weapons, with Ja'Marr Chase (not injury-related) and Tee Higgins (hamstring) potentially not suiting up for the opener. Without question, Burrow is a capable fantasy quarterback. However, his outlook isn't as promising if Chase and Higgins aren't on the field. But it's a new era in New England, with Bill Belichick no longer at the helm in favor of Jerod Mayo. With the coaching change, there could be bumps in the road for the Patriots defense. Regardless, Burrow is too talented to keep on the bench on Sunday. Fantasy managers should consider him a viable starting option in all formats imaginable.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (right wrist) is listed on the injury report but was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. As anticipated, Burrow showed no limitations during Cincinnati's session, indicating his wrist injury is likely fully healed after an entire offseason of recovery. Burrow has faced various injuries throughout his career, including a torn ACL in his rookie season, which limited him to just ten games, and a calf strain that affected him last season before a wrist ligament tear ended his year early. If Ja'Marr Chase is active for Week 1, fantasy managers can confidently start Burrow in Cincinnati's season opener against the New England Patriots.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow completed five of seven passes for 51 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The star quarterback (and the primary offense as a whole) only played the first drive of the game, but they took advantage of their limited playing time by putting seven points on the board. For Burrow, injuries have been a major storyline throughout his young career. He missed six games as a rookie and seven last year, creating significant problems for the Bengals and fantasy managers alike. The wrist injury he suffered late in 2023 seems to have healed, but Cincinnati will likely continue to exercise caution with their franchise quarterback as Week 1 approaches. Once the season kicks off, Burrow will rank as a strong QB1 option for as long as he can stay healthy.
