Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston turned in an excellent performance in his first start since 2022, throwing for 334 yards and three touchdowns in an upset win over the Baltimore Ravens. He will look to keep it going at home against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9. The Chargers have a much better pass defense than the Ravens as they are allowing just the 25th-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. That being said, Winston looked good last week and is worth trusting as a low-end QB2 in superflex and two-quarterback formats this weekend.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston made his first start for the organization in Week 8 following the season-ending Achilles injury suffered by Deshaun Watson (Achilles) in Week 7. Winston, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, completed 27 of his 41 passing attempts for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions en route to an upset win over the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Winston is viewed as the starter for the rest of the year, but the NFL is "day-to-day." Second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson came off the bench for the injured Watson in Week 7 and was somewhat in the running to be the starter in Watson's absence, but unless Winston puts a few disastrous performances together, Thompson-Robinson is likely stuck in the QB2 chair.
According to head coach Kevin Stefanski, the Cleveland Browns will continue to roll out quarterback Jameis Winston. Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram reported the news. It's of little surprise, considering the effectiveness Winston displayed in his first start since 2022. The 30-year-old tossed for 334 yards and three touchdowns in Cleveland's 29-24 victory over the Baltimore Ravens -- two benchmarks that Deshaun Watson (Achilles) never hit in his Browns tenure. In fact, Watson had not eclipsed even 200 passing yards in any of his 2024 appearances. The former first-overall pick did an excellent job moving the Browns' offense, and he'll get a chance to build on his performance in Week 9 when Cleveland hosts the visiting Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston turned in an excellent effort in his first start for the team, leading them to a 29-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. Winston completed 27 of his 41 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns while adding two carries for two yards and a lost fumble in the upset win over the Ravens. The veteran quarterback led the Browns' offense to their first game eclipsing the 20-point mark while also notching Cleveland's first game of the year with more than 200 passing yards. With the Browns down 24-23 with 1:04 left in the game, Winston found Cedric Tillman for a game-winning 38-yard touchdown pass to complete the comeback victory. Having Winston under center sparked the entire Cleveland offense in Week 8 and gives hope for many of their key skill position players in fantasy moving forward. He will be on the QB2 radar in fantasy in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston will step in as the team's starter for a Week 8 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Winston will make his first start for the Browns after the team lost Deshaun Watson to a season-ending Achilles injury during a Week 7 loss. The veteran quarterback draws a plus matchup against a Ravens secondary that is allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2024. It is tough to predict how Winston will play for a Cleveland offense that has issues at offensive line but he is worth a look as a boom/bust QB2 in fantasy heading into the weekend.
