San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will open his sophomore season with a Monday night home game versus the New York Jets. Moody finished his rookie season in 2023 tied with Atlanta's Younghoe Koo as the K17 in fantasy points per game. Moody and Koo took very different routes to those numbers, though. Moody only attempted 25 field goals to Koo's 37. The difference was made up in extra points, as Moody led the league in the category and set a record with 53 straight. Lack of opportunity aside, Moody does have room for improvement in his accuracy; he recorded an 84% last year, which was near the bottom of the league. The Jets defense is expected to be stout but if their defense is anything like last year's, the 49ers should be able to move the ball on the ground at least. The weather in Santa Clara on Monday night is expected to be near-perfect. Moody is a back-end fantasy starter in Week 1.
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will become the third rookie kicker in the past decade to start a Super Bowl when the team faces the Kansas City Chiefs indoors at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday. Moody has struggled at times during his first year in the league, finishing 20th among all qualifiers in field goal percentage at 84%, even though he was near the bottom of the league in attempts longer than 39 yards with nine. For context, Jacksonville's Brandon McManus led the league with 23 such attempts. Moody has had a rocky road in the postseason as well, missing two of five attempts. It hasn't been all bad though, Moody set the NFL record for most consecutive extra points made (60) since the try was moved back to the 15-yard line in 2015. While fantasy managers may be reluctant to trust a rookie kicker in the biggest game of the year, it's worth noting that the last two rookies in the Super Bowl -; Jake Elliott and Evan McPherson -; went a combined five-for-five on field goals in their games. In what figures to be a close, relatively high-scoring contest Moody will cede the top option to KC's Harrison Butker but Moody could bring value to DFS players who would rather spend more cash on other positions.
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody will look to keep a mostly successful postseason going smoothly when the team faces the Detroit Lions at home in the NFC Championship Game. Moody, who set the NFL record this season for most consecutive extra points made since the try was moved back to the 15-yard line in 2015, made all three last week in the Divisional Round versus Green Bay. He also sank a 52-yard field goal after having his first attempt, a 42-yarder, blocked. 72-degree weather is in the forecast for Sunday's game, with no precipitation and virtually no wind. With an over/under currently above 50, the 49ers offense is expected to provide plenty of opportunities for Moody to gather points in this one, making him arguably the top choice among kickers this round
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will kick off San Francisco's postseason run on Saturday night versus the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. Moody's rookie season has been a success, even while ranking in the bottom of the league in field goal attempts due to his historic extra-point prowess. In Week 18 versus the Rams, Moody ended a streak of 60 straight extra points converted, an NFL record since the extra-point attempt was moved back to the 15-yard line in 2015. Green Bay's defense has been unspectacular lately, allowing 32 points to Dallas last week, which should put Moody in a position to put points on the board consistent with his regular season performance. The weather is expected to be moderately rainy with wind gusts maxing out at 20 mph and shouldn't be a big issue. DFS players unwilling to spend the extra cash on Justin Tucker should consider Moody a high-floor option, leading the tier below.
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will finish out his rookie season in a meaningless game at Levi's Stadium on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Rams. Moody has had a solid, if unspectacular start to his career, hitting 21 of 24 field goal attempts and making all 58 of his league-leading extra-point tries. He ranks as the overall K17 while ranking 27th in field goal attempts as a result. Los Angeles is the 11th-most generous defense to opposing fantasy kickers this year and the weather forecast looks mild for Sunday. Moody is downgraded a bit this week mostly because San Francisco's offense is expected to be diminished with backup quarterback Sam Darnold slated to start, although Moody remains a decent option for week 18 championships and DFS plays.
