Las Vegas Raiders running back Dylan Laube did not receive a single opportunity out of the backfield in Sunday's 29-19 loss to the Denver Broncos. The rookie returned one kickoff for a gain of 59 yards. It was disappointing to see the 24-year-old finish the game with no backfield work on a day when Zamir White (quad) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) were both held from the contest with their respective injuries. Instead, Ameer Abdullah led the way with a 90% snap share, with Sincere McCormick picking up the other 10%. Laube has participated on just one snap in his first NFL campaign, fumbling away his lone carry. It appears he's buried deep in the Raiders' depth chart and will continue his role on special teams alone for now. Las Vegas will line up against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead in Week 13.

There haven't been many helpful reports on how much work he'll get, but the team would be well-served to give him some work and see if he can bring any juice. LV's offense hasn't been good this season, and the running game has been the worst in the league statistically. Such an inefficient ground attack warrants trying out new things. Laube is worth stashing in deep, highly competitive fantasy football leagues, but too risky to start for now. His only carry this season resulted in a lost fumble.

Along with Laube, Ameer Abdullah would also have a bigger role in the backfield if both Mattison and White are inactive. The 24-year-old fumbled on the first rushing attempt of his career, and he hasn't gotten another chance since then. We wouldn't recommend Laube for starting fantasy lineups if both Mattison and White are out, as the Raiders rank dead last in rushing yards per game (75.2), while the Broncos have allowed only 98.6 rushing yards per game (sixth-fewest in the NFL).

The Chargers will enter Week 1 with Zamir White, Alexander Mattison, and Ameer Abdullah as their top-three running backs. Laube had created intrigue throughout the preseason and training camp with solid play. However, the sixth-round pick out of the University of New Hampshire did not do enough to earn himself a role on game day, at least in Week 1. His next change to log regular season playing time will be in Week 2 against the Ravens

The Athletic's Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed have listed Las Vegas Raiders rookie sixth-round running back Dylan Laube as the RB4 behind Zamir White, Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah and expect him to make the final 53-man roster out of training camp. White showed well for himself when he filled in for the injured Josh Jacobs last year, and now that Jacobs is out of town, White should lead this backfield in touches in 2024. However, Mattison was brought in to help share the load, especially on third down. Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has praised White's receiving skills, so he won't exactly just be a two-down back. Abdullah is a trusted veteran who can also play special teams, while Laube is a nice project and will provide depth. The 24-year-old Laube is really only worth stashing in dynasty leagues for now, and his quickest path to playing time will be on third downs.
