Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin kicked off the season with a bang during the Week 1 contest against the Washington Commanders. McLaughlin connected on all three field goal attempts while hitting all four extra point attempts as well. The veteran kicker was fantastic for the Bucs last season, but a shaky preseason might've scared away some fantasy managers. The Bucs offense should once again be strong enough to give McLaughlin plenty of work on a weekly basis. He'll likely be busy again against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Fantasy managers looking to stream a kicker might want to consider giving McLaughlin a chance.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin (abdomen) was upgraded to a full participant in practice on Thursday, according to Brianna Dix. McLaughlin missed practice on Wednesday due to an abdomen injury and an illness. However, seeing him return to full participation the following day is a great sign for his status in the season opener on Sunday afternoon. The 28-year-old enjoyed a great season in Tampa Bay last fall, hitting 93.5% of his attempts and a stellar 7-for-8 from outside 50 yards. DFS players should consider placing McLaughlin in their lineup as he will face the Washington Commanders, who surrendered the most total yards in the league last season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin (abdomen/illness) did not practice on Wednesday. McLaughlin hit on 93.5% of his field goal attempts in 2023 and was rewarded with a three-year contract extension. Tampa Bay has a favorable matchup for kickers in Week 1 so it will be worth monitoring McLaughlin's status leading up to the weekend. Hopefully he is able to bounce-back from his illness quickly and start on Sunday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to an undisclosed three-year deal to re-sign kicker Chase McLaughlin on Monday, according to a source. McLaughlin will stay with the Buccaneers after going 29-for-31 on his field-goal attempts and 33-for-33 on his extra points in 17 regular-season games. The 27-year-old's success rate on field goals last year set a new single-season record, so it's no wonder why Tampa wanted the kicker back for another go-round in 2024 as their primary kicker. From a fantasy perspective, McLaughlin finished as the No. 16 kicker in terms of overall fantasy points in 2023. The Bucs offense should remain largely the same this year with quarterback Baker Mayfield and top wideout Mike Evans sticking around, so McLaughlin should enter the year as a matchup-based streamer at the kicking position in fantasy.
