Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young completed thirteen of his 30 passes for 161 yards with two interceptions in the team's 47-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Young also carried the ball four times for an additional 12 yards and a touchdown on the ground, helping to salvage his fantasy production. Carolina had no success moving the ball in Sunday's matchup, seeing just barely over 200 yards of total offense. While there was some optimism the Panthers would improve from last year's offense, that was not shown to be the case on Sunday. Young can be left out of lineups in mostly all formats next week when the Panthers take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young looks to get off on the right foot in his sophomore campaign when the Panthers travel to take on the New Orleans Saints. Young struggled in his rookie season, throwing for 2877 yards with 11 touchdowns, 10 INTs and a 2-15 record. Although the Panthers have tried to reload on both sides of the ball, Young and the Panthers face a stout Saints defense that allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points to QBs last season. On top of that, this game also projects to be one of the lowest scoring in Week 1's slate, limiting any potential upside Young might have. Fantasy managers should wait and see how this Panthers offense performs before considering Young in lineups, and he can comfortably left on the bench in most formats this week.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young completed six of his eight throws for 70 yards and a touchdown in the team's preseason win over the Buffalo Bills. Young played just the initial drive, distributing the ball around to five different receivers before eventually finding Jordan Matthews for an eight-yard touchdown to cap it off. This was Young's first and only preseason action, as the Panthers have relied primarily on QBs Jack Plummer and Jake Luton in their previous games. While it's an encouraging performance from Young, his fantasy relevance will be seen mainly in 2QB/Superflex leagues, barring a vast improvement from last season's performances to be considered a QB1 in fantasy.
Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales said he wants to get second-year quarterback Bryce Young and the starters "some good work" in the preseason finale this Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. Canales said he's unsure if backup Andy Dalton (quadriceps) will play. Given how bad Young was in his first year in the NFL, it makes all the sense to throw the 23-year-old out there for extensive action in the preseason finale to try and build chemistry with the rest of the offense under a new coaching staff. The former Alabama star has nowhere to really go but up in Year 2, and he has a new No. 1 wideout in Diontae Johnson to help him improve. Pushing the ball downfield will be a good first step for Young to improve on a disastrous rookie campaign. Until we see Young take the next step, though, he should probably only be drafted as a QB2/3 in superflex fantasy formats.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young will remain on the bench for Saturday's preseason matchup against the New York Jets. New head coach Dave Canales will give most of his starters the night off during this exhibition contest. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with Young, but the Panthers don't want to risk an injury early in camp. Possibly, the second-year quarterback takes the field for the final preseason game. In his absence, quarterbacks Jack Plummer and Jake Luton will split up the reps on Saturday.
