His day didn't get much better, as he finished 10 for 20 and an interception. Richardson has started in just 17 games since high school, and his numerous injuries as a rookie likely slowed down his development. However, he is still just 22 years old, and many believed he'd be a project when entering the NFL as a first-round pick. While the Colts could struggle in the passing game early on, Richardson's elite rushing ceiling keeps him as a potential high-end QB1 in 2024 fantasy football. Head coach Shane Steichen has been vocal about not reducing Richardson's role on the ground, and if that is the case, he could contend to lead the position in rushing yards and touchdowns. Players like Justin Fields and early-career Josh Allen have had success in fantasy football despite looking overwhelmed as a passer. Richardson could fit that bill in his sophomore campaign.

"I'm not expecting any limitations right now," Ballard said. This was the expectation all along after Richardson needed season-ending right-shoulder surgery just four games into his first NFL season in 2023. As long as the 22-year-old former first-rounder doesn't have a setback with his shoulder this summer and in the preseason, he'll enter the 2024 regular season as Indy's unquestioned starter under center with an extremely high fantasy ceiling, mainly because of his elite rushing abilities with the football in his hands. Even though he only has four games of experience in the NFL, Richardson is going to be expensive in fantasy drafts once the top tier of names at the position come off the board.
