Los Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was sidelined for the second straight day during practice. This is not good to see after Dissly's eight-catch performance in Week 7. Now, Dissly is in danger of missing Week 8 after back-to-back absences. If active, Dissly sneaks onto the TE2 radar against the New Orleans Saints. Otherwise, Hayden Hurst (groin) could be asked to take on a bigger role after he returned to practice on Thursday. However, Hurst hasn't done enough this season to earn the trust of fantasy managers.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers Quentin Johnston (ankle) and Ladd McConkey (hip) remained sidelined during practice on Thursday. Both wideouts sat out during Wednesday's initial practice session as well. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor their status on Friday, as they both could be in danger of missing Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Johnson sat out during last Monday's game due to an ankle injury, while McConkey is still battling a lingering hip injury. He was able to suit up in Week 7. If both wideouts are unable to play or are limited during Sunday's game against the Saints, Joshua Palmer and tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) should see an increase in targets.
Los Angeles Chargers tight ends Will Dissly (shoulder) and Hayden Hurst (groin) were both listed as non-participants for Wednesday's practice. Hurst suffered a groin injury in the team's Week 6 victory over the Denver Broncos, playing just seven snaps before exiting the contest not to return. He's yet to practice since picking up the ailment. Dissly, on the other hand, has, in turn, seen his snap counts spike over that period and put together an excellent performance his last time out despite dealing with an injury of his own. However, it's worth noting that he was able to log two full sessions leading up to the Chargers' loss to the Cardinals this past Monday night. This may be just a maintenance day for the 28-year-old veteran, but fantasy managers will want to monitor the former Seattle Seahawk's status after his breakout performance in Week 7. The only tight ends on Los Angeles' roster that do not carry a designation are Stone Smartt and Eric Tomlinson.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver DJ Chark (groin) was again listed as limited in his team's first practice of the week. It's Chark's fourth straight limited session since the Chargers activated his 21-day practice window last Wednesday. The 28-year-old was placed on Injured Reserve just one day before the team's season opener. He may return to the field this Sunday when LA squares off against the visiting New Orleans Saints. The Chargers could certainly stand to use him, considering fellow wideouts Ladd McConkey (hip), Quentin Johnston (ankle), and Derius Davis (ankle) were all tagged with DNPs on Wednesday, as were tight ends Will Dissly (shoulder) and Hayden Hurst (groin). LA could be looking at a severely depleted pass-catching corps if things don't change in short order. Expect a better indication of Chark's status for Week 8 over the coming days.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers Ladd McConkey (hip) and Quentin Johnston (ankle) were both tagged with DNPs on Wednesday to open the week. Johnston was listed as doubtful heading into Week 7 but was eventually ruled out and has yet to practice in any capacity since picking up an ankle injury in the team's 23-16 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 6. McConkey's hip ailment occurred in Week 6, but he played 57 snaps in the contest (86%). It's possible this was just a maintenance day for the early second-round pick, so look for his practice participation later this week to hint at his Sunday status. With wideout Derius Davis (hamstring) also not practicing Wednesday, Joshua Palmer, Simi Fehoko, and Brenden Rice are the only receivers without a designation on the active roster at the position.
