Travis Kelce Up And Down In Wild-Card Victory

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's scoreless drought dragged into the playoffs in Saturday's 26-7 wild-card victory over the Miami Dolphins, but he hauled in seven of his 10 targets for 71 yards. Patrick Mahomes tried to get the struggling Kelce involved early, and despite his strong five catches for 55 yards in the box score during the first half, Kelce left some yards on the field. The 34-year-old four-time All-Pro came down with a key 11-yard pass on third-and-long during K.C.'s first series and then jump-started a scoring drive in the second quarter with a 22-yard gain, but he committed at least two fairly blatant drops on Saturday. Kelce also witnessed a six-game postseason scoring streak get snapped against the Dolphins. In search of his first touchdown since Week 11, Kelce will next do battle either in Buffalo against the Bills or at Arrowhead Stadium versus the Houston Texans for next weekend's Divisional showdown.

Patrick Mahomes Picks Up 12th Career Playoff Win

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes navigated his team to a 26-7 wild-card win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, completing 23-of-41 passes for 262 yards and one touchdown, adding two carries for 41 yards. The Chiefs stuck with their normally pass-heavy approach and had no problem moving the ball despite frigid and windy conditions but struggled to sustain red-zone drives. Mahomes capped off their opening possession with an 11-yard pass to Rashee Rice for his lone score of the night. But Saturday proved to be more of the same for Mahomes, who has likely grown accustomed to subdued box-score numbers at this point. Though they appeared unfazed by the icy-cold temperatures, Mahomes and company hope for more favorable conditions in next weekend's Divisional battle. If the Buffalo Bills take care of business on Monday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mahomes would set out on his first career road playoff game.

Kadarius Toney, Justyn Ross Inactive For Saturday

Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Kadarius Toney (ankle, hip) and Justyn Ross (hamstring) have been ruled out ahead of Saturday's playoff matchup against the Miami Dolphins. This news doesn't come as much of a shock considering both players were listed as questionable heading into this game. Toney has missed the last three games, while Ross has barely been involved in the offense all season long. The expectation is that wideout Rashee Rice and tight end Travis Kelce will be the primary pass-catching weapons for this offense. Also, Richie James and Mecole Hardman could see more involvement, but they wouldn't be recommended DFS options.

Wind Risk May Not Faze Rashee Rice Saturday

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was perhaps one of fantasy's most rewarding forward-thinking holds of 2023. Though it took Rice time to carve out his featured role, he appeared to be K.C.'s most dangerous wideout long before taking the league by storm with 7.2 catches (9.3 targets) for 86.3 yards per game and three total touchdowns in his final six games. The second-rounder ranked as fantasy's overall WR8 in PPR scoring over this span, entering Saturday's playoff debut versus the Miami Dolphins with plenty of momentum. Those playing Rice in DFS will likely be relying on his third-most yards after catch (654) and seventh-most red-zone targets (22) among WRs this year. The Fins held Rice to his season worst with 17 yards in Week 9, but he was able to find the end zone in that one. Rice does most of his damage with the ball in his hands starting at or around the line of scrimmage, so forecasted windy conditions may not hamper him all that much.

Isiah Pacheco Could Benefit From Windy Forecast

Off Saturday's injury report, Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) proved in 2023 that his 2022 second-half surge was no fluke, taking a stranglehold on K.C.'s lead-back duties. Showing multi-dimensionality in his second year, Pacheco more than tripled his catch output from a year ago by pulling in 44 of his 49 targets. The hard-running 24-year-old ranked as a rock-solid RB2 throughout the season, placing as the RB14 in fantasy points per game (15.3), and he's heading into the postseason wild-card battle with the Miami Dolphins with a ton of steam. Pacheco is averaging 82.0 rushing yards on 16.2 carries with five total touchdowns over his last five outings, adding 4.0 catches for 16.8 yards per game. Miami is yielding the fourth-fewest opponent yards per carry (3.8), but the Chiefs could lean on Pacheco, who is an exciting DFS play, with strong winds and below-freezing temperatures in the forecast at Arrowhead Stadium.
