Travis Kelce Plans To Return In 2024

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who caught nine passes for 93 yards in the win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, said after the big game that he would return for another season rather than retire on top. The 34-year-old has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last nine years and is one of the best players at his position of all time, but he did show plenty of signs of slowing down in 2023. Kelce finished the regular season under 1,000 yards receiving for the first time since 2015, although he also missed two games (one due to injury). He also had just five receiving touchdowns, his fewest since 2019, and had some uncharacteristic drops along the way. Kelce will remain a high-end TE1 in fantasy in 2024 as the Chiefs go for a three-peat, but he's not going to be the overall TE1 entering fantasy drafts this fall.

Mecole Hardman Jr. Reels In Super Bowl-Winning Pass

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. played the role of hero for his team in Super Bowl LVIII, reeling in the game-winning touchdown from three yards out to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22. Hardman pulled in each of his three targets for 57 yards in Sunday's big game, also coming down with a 52-yard bomb to get the Chiefs into a goal-to-go during the second quarter. After playing just one snap in the AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens, the 25-year-old stepped up as a deep threat when it mattered most for a Chiefs offense desperate for playmaking down the field all year long. Though he authored quite a feel-good story going from a New York Jets castoff to catching a championship-winning TD, Hardman's Super Bowl heroics are unlikely to make him worth rostering in the majority of 2024 fantasy drafts. Whether it's back with K.C. or another squad, the former Pro Bowl kick returner should find a home next season.

Rashee Rice Wraps Up Rookie Season Quietly

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice continued his recent muted postseason run with six catches (eight targets) for 39 yards, but his team was still able to bring home their third Super Bowl ring in the last four seasons in Sunday's 25-22 triumph over the San Francisco 49ers. After an electric performance during Super Wild Card Weekend, the 2023 second-rounder failed to reach the 50-yard marker in any of his past three playoff games. It ends a very promising rookie campaign with a bit of a whimper, but Rice cemented himself as quarterback Patrick Mahomes' No. 1 wideout this year. The Chiefs' offseason moves may have something to say regarding Rice's 2024 fantasy draft outlook, however, as it's abundantly clear they need to add a more credible downfield threat into the picture despite Mecole Hardman Jr.'s Super Bowl LVIII heroics. For now, Rice belongs in top-12 conversations at the WR position in way-too-early rankings.

Rough Day For Isiah Pacheco In Super Bowl LVIII

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (ankle/toe) couldn't get much going in Super Bowl LVIII, but his team still topped the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 to come away with their third championship in the past four years. Pacheco carried the ball 18 times for 59 yards and added six receptions for 33 yards, but it was a rough evening all around for the 2022 seventh-rounder. Pacheco lost a fumble with the Chiefs in a goal-to-go to stall a potential scoring drive in the second quarter and nearly coughed it up again on a failed handoff to open the second half. It was a disappointing outcome in the box score, considering the Niners had gotten trampled on the ground during the postseason. The 24-year-old dealt with some tough injury luck down the stretch of the campaign, but Pacheco solidified himself as a fully capable workhorse in 2023 and will enter 2024 as an early-round fantasy pick with top-12 positional expectations in all likelihood.

Travis Kelce Puts Up Huge Second Half In Super Bowl Win

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce overcame a quiet first half in Super Bowl LVIII to lead his team with 93 receiving yards on nine catches (10 targets) in Sunday's 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers, raising the third Lombardi Trophy of his illustrious career. The Niners bottled up Kelce for one yard in the first two quarters, but they had a hard time holding down the future Hall of Famer after Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) went down. Kelce kept K.C.'s offense on schedule throughout the second half, moving the chains for five first downs as quarterback Patrick Mahomes' obvious go-to target. The wheels were starting to fall off late in the regular season for Kelce, but his stellar playoffs told a different story. Just when it seemed his 2024 fantasy ADP would come in at a discount, the 34-year-old superstar totaled 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns in four playoff games. We'll cross that bridge when we get there, but Kelce will be 35 this October.
