Marquise Brown Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) is expected to miss four to six weeks with the sternoclavicular injury he suffered in Saturday's preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Opening night for the Chiefs is three weeks from this Thursday night, with KC opening up at home versus the Baltimore Ravens and then facing the Cincinnati Bengals. This timeline likely means Brown won't be available for the regular-season opener in September, dropping his stock in fantasy drafts quite a bit this summer. Although star slot receiver Rashee Rice remains at risk of being suspended at some point this season, his appeal certainly increases with this development. Rookie first-rounder Xavier Worthy is now set to be quarterback Patrick Mahomes' primary deep threat to begin the year, with Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and Mecole Hardman being in line for an uptick in snaps.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Misses Practice With An Illness

Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) was absent from practice on Monday. The former first-round pick is currently listed as the No. 2 running back on the Chiefs depth chart ahead of second-year player Deneric Prince. Edwards-Helaire rushed for 223 yards and one touchdown in 2023. He has been fully usurped as the feature back by third-year player Isiah Pacheco. With the offseason hype for Prince growing, Edwards-Helaire faces pressure to perform to keep his hold on the No. 2 job. Edwards-Helaire does not have much stand-alone fantasy value outside of insurance for Pacheco.

Marquise Brown Avoids Surgery

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) didn't require surgery after injuring his left shoulder in the preseason opener on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Andy Reid. Brown was released from a hospital on Sunday morning and has returned to Kansas City. Specifically, the 27-year-old wideout injured the sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder and will miss some time, which could very well jeopardize his availability to kick off his first year in KC in a Thursday night battle against the Baltimore Ravens. Tyreek Hill had a similar injury back in 2019 and was forced to miss four regular-season games. With Rashee Rice potentially opening the season serving a suspension, the Chiefs' receiving corps could be lacking, with rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney benefitting.

Marquise Brown Discharged From Hospital

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder), who suffered a dislocation of his sternoclavicular shoulder join in Saturday's preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, was discharged from a Jacksonville-area hospital on Sunday morning and has been cleared to return to Kansas City. Tyreek Hill suffered the same injury back in 2019 with KC and ended up missing four weeks in the regular season. So fantasy managers should expect Hollywood to miss some time and be questionable for the regular-season opener in Week 1 to kick off the season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. It puts a damper on Brown's fantasy value to open his first year with the Chiefs. Any time missed by Brown will be an opportunity for rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney to see more snaps. Rashee Rice could also open the year serving a suspension.

Marquise Brown Suffers Shoulder Injury, Expected To Miss "Some Time"

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) suffered a dislocation of the sternoclavicular shoulder joint during Saturday's preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He landed on his left shoulder after being tackled during the first play of the game. The 27-year-old immediately headed to the sideline and went to the locker room. He did not return to the game. According to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, Brown's injury was similar to the one the then Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019. Hill ended up missing four games before returning to action. "Brown will miss some time," said Reid. His status for Week 1 is up in the air. Barring a potential suspension, Rashee Rice will lead the way for the Chiefs wide receiver group. At the same time, Xavier Worthy, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, and Kadarius Toney should see an uptick in snaps while Brown is sidelined.
