Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery rushed ten times for 33 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards in the 31-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His final stats in the NFC Divisional Round were far from impressive, but he remains a key piece of the team's offense despite the emergence of rookie Jahmyr Gibbs. The 49ers allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs during the regular season, so Montgomery could be in for another hard-fought day in the NFC Championship Game. That said, he scored 14 touchdowns in the regular season and Wild Card Rounds combined, so he remains a DFS consideration.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed nine times for 74 yards and caught four passes for 40 yards in the NFC Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gibbs delivered a 31-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter to help the Lions pull away in the 31-23 victory. The rookie remains a threat to score a touchdown or rip off a chunk play on every snap, so he remains a DFS next week despite a tough matchup with the talented San Francisco 49ers' defensive front.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 30 of his 43 passing attempts for 287 yards two touchdowns and no interceptions in the NFC Divisional win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was another great playoff performance for the former No. 1 overall pick, and he will lead the organization into the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been stingy against quarterbacks this year, but the Detroit offense is explosive in most matchups and the Lions' offensive line should match up well with the 49ers' strong defensive front.
The Detroit Lions are expected to "ramp up" contract extension talks with quarterback Jared Goff this upcoming offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Goff has looked excellent in his third season with Detroit, completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. All the while, the 29-year-old has led the Lions to a historic playoff run, which continues Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rapoport notes that while Goff was a throw-in piece to the Matthew Stafford trade in 2021, the Lions have always viewed him as a potential franchise cornerstone and now have the opportunity to extend him as such.
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (knee) is active for Sunday's playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had been listed as questionable. While there never appeared to be major concern about the rookie's status, it should be noted that he did downgrade to a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday. Nevertheless, he's active for the Divisional Round and will presumably handle a full workload. LaPorta registered three catches, 14 yards, and one touchdown in last week's playoff game, and he remains an intriguing option for fantasy managers and bettors ahead of kickoff Sunday.
