Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson (shoulder) continues working his way back from season-ending shoulder surgery from last March. The 31-year-old is reportedly close to returning and was seen getting up shots after practice earlier this week. Richardson still isn't a full participant in practice, but is expected to be ready by the beginning of the regular season. Richardson could be sidelined for the beginning of training camp, which could mean more reps for Alec Burks and Duncan Robinson. Richardson finished with 9.9 points per game, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 25.6 minutes per game. The expectation is that the Heat will ease Richardson back into action, but he could be an interesting fantasy option once he's back to full health.
Miami Heat shooting guard Josh Richardson (shoulder) said on Monday that he is "close to returning" from his season-ending shoulder surgery that he received in March. Richardson admitted that his recovery has been frustrating but that he has the "mental to grind through" the rest of his rehab process. The 31-year-old was performing solidly off Miami's bench before obtaining the injury in February, averaging 9.9 PPG. Richardson still will need to show some progress before receiving playing time and will likely be eased into the rotation once back. Fantasy managers shouldn't need to worry about targeting the veteran in drafts. However, Richardson could be an intriguing waiver wire pickup midseason should he reach his normal levels of production once healthy.
Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson picked up his $3 million player option on Friday. The veteran's production has declined over the last few years, and he finished the 2023-24 campaign by averaging 9.9 points while shooting 34.7% from behind the arc, one of the lowest percentages of his career. Even worse, he was limited to just 43 games due to a shoulder injury that required surgery. Richardson's production likely won't improve in 2024-25, considering he's not expected to be a regular in Erik Spoelstra's rotation.
Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery. He had a 90-minute labrum procedure to repair right shoulder instability on Wednesday. The Heat have already been without Richardson for the past eight games. The 30-year-old finishes the campaign with averages of 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 25.7 minutes. He's a good utility player who can return to Miami for next season if he opts into his $3.05 million player option. Duncan Robinson has carried a massive load with Richardson out, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Caleb Martin also get extra usage.
Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson (shoulder) will be out for an eighth consecutive game on Tuesday versus the Pistons. He dislocated his right shoulder nearly a month ago, and it's unclear when Richardson will be able to return to action. His absence has left Miami without a versatile player who has averaged close to 26 minutes per game for the season. With Tyler Herro (foot) also out, Caleb Martin and Jaime Jaquez Jr. are heavily involved off the Miami bench, and the second unit could get extra run-outs on Tuesday, as the meeting with Detroit has heavy blowout potential.
