The Boston Celtics have removed forward Jaylen Brown (back) from their injury report ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Atlanta Hawks. After practicing on Tuesday, per The Athletic's Aaron Weiss, Brown is cleared to play in the sixth outing of a seven-game homestand following a one-game absence in Sunday's easy win over the Memphis Grizzlies with tightness in his lower back. The 27-year-old All-Star's usage has taken a slight dip in a loaded Celtics lineup during 2023-24, but he's still floating around fantasy's top 50 in points leagues with averages of 22.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 three-pointers, and 1.1 steals over 46 games. Wednesday's contest holds blowout risk in Boston's favor, but Brown is in a great spot against a Hawks team that ranks 29th in opponent field-goal percentage (50.3%) this season.
Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (knee) isn't seen on the team's injury report ahead of Wednesday's game versus the San Antonio Spurs. Brown required a one-game absence due to a hyperextended right knee, sitting out Monday's win over the Toronto Raptors. 19-0 at TD Garden, the Celtics should be massive favorites at home against a 7-32 Spurs squad, perhaps allowing them to manage Brown's minutes if they're carrying a big lead late. San Antonio is giving up the fourth-most points per game (121.4) this season, and Brown has caught fire over his last five games with averages of 29.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.4 three-pointers in 32.7 minutes since Jan. 6. Al Horford logged his third double-double of the season in Monday's start and would figure to revert back to Boston's bench, but each of Kristaps Porzingis (knee), Jrue Holiday (elbow), and Derrick White (ankle) are questionable on Wednesday.
Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (knee), who was reportedly inactive during the morning shootaround, will not play in Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. Day game against the Toronto Raptors. Dealing with a hyperextended right knee, Brown should be considered day-to-day ahead of his next chance to suit up on Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs. The 27-year-old two-time All-Star is heating up over his last five games, averaging 29.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.4 threes, and 2.2 assists in 32.7 minutes since Jan. 6. The Raptors have been forced to play smaller lineups with Jakob Poeltl (ankle) on the sidelines, so Sam Hauser might be a more likely replacement for Brown than Al Horford in Boston's starting five on Monday. Horford has been more productive as a starter this season, however, averaging 9.0 points, 7.7 boards, and 3.7 dimes across 14 games with the first unit.
Boston Celtics guard/forward Jaylen Brown (knee) is back on the injury report ahead of Monday's clash with Toronto. He's considered questionable for the contest due to right knee hyperextension. Al Horford or Sam Hauser should get the start if Brown can't play on Monday. It's also worth noting that Kristaps Porzingis had his best game as a Celtic with Brown out last month against Detroit, and Jayson Tatum always gets a usage boost without him as well.
