Golden State Warriors guard/forward Gary Payton II (hamstring) isn't on the injury report ahead of Saturday's battle with Phoenix. He's set to return to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 2. Health issues have left a major dent on Payton II's season, as the defensive specialist has featured in just 16 games. He will be a decent source for steals to fantasy managers, but Payton II likely won't play enough to make a difference in other areas. He's averaged 1.1 steals for the season in 16.3 minutes.
Golden State Warriors guards Chris Paul (hand) and Gary Payton II (hamstring) both remain out for Wednesday's tilt against the Philadelphia 76ers, but they are progressing from their respective injuries. While Payton returned to practice on Tuesday and is viewed as day-to-day with a strained left hamstring, Paul did some shooting and running following the session and is a bit further away from returning from a fractured left hand. CP3 is due to be re-evaluated in about a week, so he will remain off the floor until after the All-Star break in all likelihood. GPII, on the other hand, could return as soon as Saturday when Golden State hosts the Phoenix Suns. Rookie first-rounder Brandin Podziemski is locked into significant minutes in the Dubs backcourt, averaging 12.3 points on 51.1% shooting from the field, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 32.4 minutes through his last nine games.
Golden State Warriors guard/forward Gary Payton II is expected to miss several weeks with a left hamstring strain. He has just returned from missing a month with a calf injury, and Payton II, unfortunately, lands back on the shelf after playing only a total of 20 minutes in two games. The 31-year-old has been limited to 16 appearances overall this season. Payton II's injury problems have helped rookie Brandin Podziemski nail down a regular spot in the rotation. He's logged at least 28 minutes in six consecutive games and will look to post a seventh consecutive game with double-digit points on Thursday versus Denver.
