The Cincinnati Bengals mildly surprised by not taking a single running back in this year's NFL draft, which means Zack Moss is in line for lead-back duties in his first year in Cincy in 2024. Moss will be the prime candidate to assume the third-down role with his extensive experience pass-blocking (68 opportunities last year, 15th in the NFL), and holding up relatively well. Chase Brown will also be involved as a complement to Moss, but after the Bengals didn't add a single RB in the draft, Moss' fantasy arrow continues to point up heading into 2024 after he impressed in Jonathan Taylor's absence with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. "No. 1, I think he'll be really good in the screen game because he's the kind of guy you get in space and has lateral quickness to make the first miss," offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said.

Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss is signing a two-year, $8 million deal with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday that includes a $4.525 million payout in the first year of the deal in 2024, according to a source. Right after the Bengals announced the signing of Moss, they released former starting RB Joe Mixon, paving the way for Moss to serve as the team's primary RB in 2024. The 26-year-old former third-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2020 out of Utah, Moss had his best season as a professional in 2023 for the Indianapolis Colts while filling in for an injured Jonathan Taylor. Moss had career-highs in carries (183), rushing yards (794), rushing touchdowns (five) and receptions (27) in 14 games played (eight starts). Chase Brown should steal touches in Cincy's backfield, but as things stand now, Moss figures to be a high-end RB2 in a more explosive offense with the Bengals.

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent running back Zack Moss said that he would be interested in re-signing with the team this offseason. Moss showed that he still belongs in the league in 2023 when he took advantage of added opportunities with Jonathan Taylor missing time due to injuries. The 26-year-old played in 14 games (eight starts) and was productive with 794 rushing yards and a career-high five touchdowns on 183 rushing attempts, adding 27 receptions on 37 targets for an additional 192 yards and two touchdowns. If Moss does return to the Colts, it will be as the clear backup to Taylor, and he won't be nearly as productive unless Taylor misses more time due to injury. At best, he'll be a handcuff option for fantasy managers that take Taylor in fantasy drafts this fall if he returns to the Colts.
