Trea Turner Homers, Drives In Three In Friday's Loss

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner had a big night in a 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Turner went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI but it wasn't quite enough as the Phillies fell to the D-Backs. The veteran shortstop is putting together another strong season, hitting .344 with three homers, 29 runs, 12 RBI, and 10 steals across 151 at-bats. While his home run numbers are down from past seasons, Turner remains an elite source of batting average, steals, and runs scored in fantasy leagues and should remain locked into fantasy lineups moving forward.

Trea Turner Runs Bases Wednesday

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) ran the bases before Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox, which is one of the last major hurdles in his rehab program. Turner still needs to test out a few other aspects of baserunning, which he will do over the next few days. When asked if Turner is targeting a return during the club's upcoming homestand, manager Rob Thomson said: "I think so, yeah. And if it's sooner than that, that's great." This narrows down Turner's return timeline from a strained left hamstring, as it sounds like he'll either be ready as early as this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles or early next week when the Phillies return home for Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres. The 30-year-old two-time All-star was returning early-round fantasy numbers before going down, batting .343 (47-for-137) with two home runs, nine RBI, 27 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases over 33 games.

Still No Timetable For Trea Turner's Return

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) participated in some light fielding drills before Friday's series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. There's no timetable on when Turner will start running the bases, however, per manager Rob Thomson. Turner experienced a minor setback with leg soreness amid his recovery from a strained left hamstring during the club's series in Colorado against the Rockies last weekend, and he still needs to ramp up his running program and go through baserunning and sliding drills before starting a minor-league rehab assignment, so he's unlikely to return to the Phillies until after the club's London Series with the division-rival New York Mets on June 8 and 9. Meanwhile, Edmundo Sosa is slashing a robust .307/.378/.591 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 88 at-bats (30 games) this year and represents a high-end fantasy streamer until Turner is back.
