Aaron Civale Reaches Five Innings In No-Decision

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Aaron Civale tossed a no-decision in Tuesday's loss versus the Boston Red Sox. Civale went five innings and allowed five hits, three runs, zero walks and struck out six on the evening. Civale has been off to a very rocky start this season, but it was the first time since April 16 that he was able to get to through a minimum of five innings. The right-hander drew a lot of hype heading into this season, but he let managers down with a 2-3 record to go along with an ugly 5.83 ERA over his first nine starts. At this point, the 28-year-old is best served as a streamer. He will look to keep improving with his next matchup set to come against the division rival Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Aaron Civale Aiming For Bounce-Back Effort Saturday

Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Aaron Civale will look for a bounce-back effort on Saturday when he takes on the Chicago White Sox on the road. Civale was touched up for five earned runs on eight hits and a hefty five walks while striking out five across just 4 2/3 innings in his last start against the Yankees. The rough outing was a rare one as the 28-year-old had allowed just seven runs across his first four starts of the season and he allowed two runs or fewer across his first three starts of the campaign. Civale will enter Saturday's contest sporting a 3.90 ERA and a healthy 19% K-BB% on the back of an increased 26.7% K% across 27 2/3 innings of work.

Aaron Civale Cruises To Win Friday

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Aaron Civale turned in a successful 2024 debut in Friday's 8-2 victory over the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, hurling six one-run innings on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts. George Springer blasted a home run during the third frame, but Civale mostly cruised to the win in his opening showing of the year. Acquired by the Rays in a trade deadline deal last season, the 28-year-old right-hander struggled to the tune of a 5.36 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 45 1/3 innings in Tampa during 2023 but got off on the right foot on Friday. With a whopping five members of the pitching staff unavailable for the Rays across various intervals of the campaign, Civale is going to be a big part of their rotation this year. He's slated to face the defending-champion Texas Rangers on Wednesday, where Civale will be a dicey fantasy option.
