New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed 11 of his 14 passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns while adding six rushing yards on two carries and a two-point conversion pass in a 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. Taylor took over for Aaron Rodgers with the Jets down 33-0 in the fourth quarter and was able to spark the offense to two touchdowns, one apiece to Garrett Wilson and Tyler Conklin. Despite the impressive performance, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters after the game that Rodgers would remain the team's starter heading into the Week 18 season finale against the Miami Dolphins, which will push Taylor back to the QB2 role for the Jets.
New York Jets backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor entered the game in the fourth quarter for starter Aaron Rodgers in the team's loss to San Francisco on Monday night. Taylor completed 6 of 8 passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. The veteran quarterback found Allen Lazard on a 3-yard TD connection with 25 seconds remaining in the game. If nothing else, Taylor's performance shows he is a worthy backup option for Rodgers, who is now 40 years old and coming off of a significant Achilles injury. Not much to see here fantasy-wise while Rodgers is healthy, however.
The New York Jets agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent quarterback Tyrod Taylor on Monday, according to sources. The journeyman quarterback will remain in New York after spending the last two seasons with the Giants. Taylor was forced to play in 11 games (five starts) for the G-Men last year due to injuries to Daniel Jones (knee), and he completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 1,341 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in those contests behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. With the Jets expected to trade Zach Wilson this offseason, Taylor could operate as Aaron Rodgers' primary backup in 2024. The 34-year-old won't save the Jets' offense if Rodgers gets hurt again next year, but he gives the team some veteran experience at the position after playing in 92 games (58 starts) in his 13 seasons in the NFL with six different teams.
New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (thumb) completed 23 passes for 297 yards and one touchdown while adding 38 yards on the ground. He also tossed one interception in an upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Taylor missed one series in the first quarter because of a thumb injury but was able to return and torch the Philadelphia secondary. Taylor would have likely topped the 300-yard mark for the second straight week without missed plays. The veteran took advantage of weak defenses in his starts to end the 2023 season and will likely be one of the more stable backup quarterbacks in the NFL again in 2024.
New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (thumb) has returned to Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had been listed as questionable after suffering an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand. The veteran signal-caller was temporarily replaced by rookie Tommy Devito but didn't miss too much time. Evidently, Taylor and the Giants' medical staff felt confident that he could return to the game without a serious risk of re-injury. It's also worth noting that DeVito was seen limping off the field, though it's unclear if his apparent lower-body injury is anything serious.
