Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett was excellent against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Lockett led the team with six receptions for 77 yards on seven targets. Lockett showed a consistent chemistry with Geno Smith that was constantly on display during the 2022 season when Lockett had 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns. Lockett entered the game after nursing a thigh injury for several weeks. However, the injury did not appear to hamper him at all. If Lockett keeps up this production, then he will prove to have been a steal in fantasy drafts.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett is officially active on Sunday and will take on the Denver Broncos. Last season was the first time Lockett failed to hit the 1,000-yard mark since 2018 and the first time he had fewer than eight touchdowns since 2017. He'll turn 32 years old this season, so he's a bit of a risky fantasy pick. Through the offseason, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was praised for his growth while DK Metcalf is primed for a big season. The new system with an all-new coaching staff will likely play a big part in how valuable Lockett becomes as well. If the Broncos' defense is anything like last year, Seattle has a chance for a big offensive day.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh) is expected to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos. He is coming off a down year, having failed to reach 1,000 yards receiving and scored under eight touchdowns for the first time in five years. Lockett will join DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as Seattle's clear top three wide receivers. It's unclear what Lockett's exact role will be under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, but Lockett still received a healthy 122 targets in 2023, so he's shown he has some left in the tank. Fantasy managers may be better off leaving him on the bench, though, as his injury could affect his play. Lockett is currently WR44 in the latest RotoBaller Week 1 rankings, making him a flex play at best for the season opener.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh) is questionable for Sunday's season opener, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN. The veteran pass catcher has been dealing with a lingering thigh injury through most of August. Lockett was a limited participant during this week's practices. Fantasy managers should continue to follow the 31-year-old's status prior to their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Last season, Lockett once again operated as the No.2 receiver in the Seattle offense and tallied 894 yards and five scores on 79 catches. If Lockett were to miss Sunday's game or participate in the limited capacity, wideouts DK Metcalf and sophomore Jaxon Smith-Njigba should see an increase in targets.UPDATE: Lockett was a full-go at practice on Friday, and head coach Mike Macdonald said he's expected to play on Sunday.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (thigh) enters Week 1 after being limited in practice for much of training camp. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerging this preseason, the Seahawks have three excellent options at wide receiver. Lockett slowed down in 2023. After four straight 1,000-yard seasons, Lockett only recorded 894 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. There is a lot of excitement around the Seahawks' offense due to the addition of new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. A fresh coordinator could help Lockett have a resurgent season. However, since Lockett missed or was limited throughout most of training camp, he may require a couple of weeks to ramp up to game speed. Additionally, Lockett has been limited in practice thus far this week. He should be an ok flex option in Week 1, but do not expect a ground-breaking game from Lockett.
