Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (hip/foot) did not practice on Wednesday. The lack of practice is worrisome considering there was no sign of injury during the Texans' Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears. It is possible that the lack of practice is more maintenance-related. Fantasy managers will need to keep an eye on Collins' practice activity throughout the week. Collins has been a stud thus far in 2024. He leads the league with 252 receiving yards and has scored one touchdown. He has been every bit the player that fantasy managers wanted coming into this season. If Collins were to miss time, then wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell would see a massive uptick in opportunities.
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (illness) was seen practicing on Friday and is set to play on Sunday night as the Houston Texans face the Chicago Bears, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. Collins was limited in practice on Thursday due to an illness but looks ready to suit up over the weekend. In the season opener, Collins continued his 2023 breakout campaign by catching six passes for 117 yards, which led the team. Fantasy managers should feel confident slotting the 25-year-old into their lineup as he enters Week 2 as a solid high-end WR2 in all formats.
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (illness) was limited during Thursday's practice due to an illness. The budding receiver practiced in full on Wednesday. The Texans could be leaning on the side of caution ahead of their Week 2 matchup to give him an extra day of rest. However, fantasy managers should pay close attention to Friday's report as it should suggest if Collins will be ready to suit up. In the season opener, Collins continued his 2023 breakout campaign by catching six passes for a team-high 117 yards in their victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Collins should remain locked into all lineups as a high-end WR2 over the weekend.
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins led the team in receiving, drawing a team-high eight targets and turning them into six catches for a team-best 117 yards in the Texans' 29-27 victory at Indianapolis in Week 1. Though fellow receiver Stefon Diggs caught both of quarterback C.J. Stroud's touchdown passes, Collins was the only Houston pass catcher to surpass 40 yards receiving. The fourth-year pro was a consistent factor at all three levels of the field, and his acrobatic, 55-yard catch in double coverage set up Houston's first touchdown. The season debut bodes well for fantasy managers who selected Collins with the hope that he could be the top dog in Houston's crowded receiver room. He'll look to build on the performance when the Texans take on Chicago in Week 2.
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was recently in the running for the league's top wide receivers. This is a well deserved mention after Collins put together a breakout campaign last season. He hauled in 80 receptions for nearly 1,300 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games. This performance earned him a three-year, $72 million extension this offseason. Collins is now one of the highest-paid players at his position. Recently, NFL executives, coaches, and personnel members were surveyed to determine the best wideouts in the league. Collins fell short but was an honorable mention. It's pretty impressive to see Collins up there after one outstanding campaign. It'll be interesting to see if Collins can replicate it with Stefon Diggs competing with him for targets next season.
