According to Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, quarterback Jayden Daniels (leg) was held out for the remainder of Sunday's narrow win over the Cowboys due to "leg soreness." "It wasn't a plan going in," said Quinn. "But he had some mild soreness in his leg, I just kind of made the decision to honestly say, 'Let's go with Marcus.'" It doesn't appear as if the injury is anything serious, although Daniels' ailment will likely be a topic of conversation throughout the week heading into Wild-Card weekend. If he can't go, which will unlikely be the case, Marcus Mariota, who had a quality showing on Sunday, would likely get the start.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will watch the rest of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys from the sidelines. The rookie sensation will take a seat in a cautious move from the coaching staff with the playoffs right around the corner. Daniels finished with 38 yards on 6-for-12 throwing and four carries for 27 yards while getting sacked four times. When he went to the bench, the Commanders were down 9-3, and Marcus Mariota is now under center. Daniels will finish his rookie season with around 3,500 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions to go along with 864 yards and six scores on 144 carries.
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels looks to cap off his impressive debut season in a divisional tilt against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18. Last weekend, Daniels threw three touchdown passes and tallied over 350 all-purpose en route to leading the Commanders to their first playoff birth since the 2020 season. Over his past five contests, Daniels has found the end zone 17 times (15 passing, two rushing) and averaged 240.0 passing yards and 76.4 rushing yards per game. During this span, he threw at least two passing scores in each contest. Fantasy managers should continue to view the Pro Bowl quarterback as a high-end QB1 facing the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed the most PPR points to opposing QBs this season. In addition, with the Commanders needing a victory to move up to the No.6 seed, suggests that Daniels will remain in the game as long as it stays competitive.
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Monday that the team will play to win this week at the division-rival Dallas Cowboys in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday. As things currently stand after their Week 17 win over the Atlanta Falcons to clinch a playoff spot on Sunday night, Washington is the NFC's sixth seed. If they can beat the Cowboys this weekend, they will stay in the No. 6 spot and travel to either the Los Angeles Rams or the winner of the NFC South (Buccaneers or Falcons). A loss to Dallas and a win by the Green Bay Packers, and the Commanders would head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in the wild-card round. The Commanders would much rather stay in the No. 6 seed, so rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and the rest of the starters should suit up in Week 18 for fantasy managers that are still playing for a championship.
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels went 24-for-36 with 227 passing yards and three scores en route to clinching a playoff spot by defeating the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday evening. Daniels added an impressive 127 yards on the ground on 16 attempts. Daniels found Olamide Zaccheaus in the opening quarter on a seven yard TD pass to open the scoring. In the third quarter, he found his tight end Zach Ertz on a ten yard TD pass. Then in overtime, Daniels found Ertz for the second time this evening to clinch the victory. Daniels has now led the game-winning drives in each of the past two games to lead Washington to their first playoff appearance since 2020. Over his past five games, Daniels has tallied 15 passing scores, two rushing scores and tallied over 300 scrimmage yards in three of them.
