Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Brooks (ankle) is officially questionable for the team's Week 3 home tilt against the visiting Baltimore Ravens. The 24-year-old received the tag after popping up on the injury report Thursday, putting together back-to-back limited sessions ahead of the team's matchup. Through two games, Brooks has converted 2-of-4 targets for 28 yards on 41 total snaps. It's the fourth-most of any Cowboys wideout -- however, CeeDee Lamb, Jalen Tolbert, and Brandin Cooks have all recorded 102 snaps or more. The second-year receiver is a more critical special teams player for Dallas as opposed to his offensive contributions. He can be firmly off fantasy manager's radars outside deep dynasty leagues.
The Athletic's Jon Machota writes that Dallas Cowboys second-year wide receiver Jalen Brooks could be ready for a much bigger role in 2024 behind receivers CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks and tight end Jake Ferguson. Brooks and quarterback Dak Prescott showed good chemistry throughout training camp this summer, particularly on the deep ball. One of Brooks, Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin or Ryan Flournoy will likely be an important No. 4 pass-catcher for the Cowboys this year, and Brooks might have the best shot to be that guy for this team. The 24-year-old former seventh-round selection last year out of South Carolina played in seven games in his rookie season and caught all six of his targets for 64 yards without finding the end zone. As of right now with the start of the regular season just days away, Brooks is merely one to watch in most fantasy leagues.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Brooks has been drawing positive reviews this offseason, and his success has continued into training camp. According to Calvin Watkins of Dallas News, Brooks has been "outstanding." Brooks was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of South Carolina and played in seven games as a rookie, collecting six receptions for 64 yards. Following the departure of Michael Gallup, the team's WR3 role is open behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. If Brooks beats out Jalen Tolbert, he will be worth rostering in deep fantasy football leagues. For now, he's at least an interesting late-round dart throw in best ball formats.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Brooks made a big catch in Sunday's preseason game loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Brooks was targeted twice, making both catches for 49 yards. One of his catches was the biggest play of the game for Dallas, a 43-yard completion tossed from quarterback Cooper Rush. Brooks played in seven games last season, making six catches on six targets, mostly playing on special teams. He's coming into the season fourth at best on the wide receiver depth chart, but has some upside possible for patient fantasy managers/
Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks are both candidates to open 2024 in the third slot on the depth chart behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com. Both players have showcased their talent during OTAs and are pushing to make the WR3 competition interesting this summer. In terms of the players' specific skill sets, Archer wrote, "Brooks was able to work through traffic well, especially on tight throws on slants. Tolbert worked all three receiver spots and was able to make plays at all different levels." There's clearly a path for both receivers to get involved this season, and Dallas has shown that its WR3 can have bursts of fantasy relevance in the past. Perhaps Tolbert or Brooks could be a late-round sleeper in redraft leagues this year.
