Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs managed a solid fantasy performance in Week 9, working in tandem with backfield partner David Montgomery in the Lions' 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers. Gibbs recorded 11 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown, along with one reception for 11 yards. The rushing touchdown saved his fantasy output, keeping him afloat in a challenging game. This marked only his second game of the season with fewer than 16 fantasy points, though his consistent involvement continues to make him a reliable option for fantasy managers. Gibbs will look to continue his productivity in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs offers intriguing upside in Week 9 as he faces the Green Bay Packers. Gibbs showcased his big-play ability last week with a 70-yard touchdown run, extending his streak of at least one 20-yard rush to six games. In his last three games, Gibbs has totaled 306 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries, along with 78 receiving yards on eight catches. While Green Bay ranks 10th in rushing yards allowed per game, Gibbs' versatility as a dual-threat player makes him a valuable fantasy option. His role may be limited to around 15 touches, but the Lions' high-scoring offense, averaging 43 points in recent games, keeps his RB1 upside intact. Treat Gibbs as a low-end RB1 with big-play potential for Week 9.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs took full advantage of an increased role in Week 7, leading his team to a thrilling 31-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. With David Montgomery (knee) missing snaps due to a knee injury, Gibbs stepped up in a big way, rushing 15 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns while adding four receptions for 44 yards. Gibbs' first score came on a 45-yard run early in the second quarter, breaking free off the right side. He added a second touchdown just before halftime, an eight-yard run that helped the Lions build their lead. Gibbs finished with an impressive 7.7 yards per carry and one of the top overall fantasy performances in Week 7, showcasing his explosiveness and versatility. The Lions will look to keep momentum at home, and Gibbs remains a must-start against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was efficient with his touches in the blowout victory over the Dallas Cowboys, but only turned in an RB2-level performance. The dynamic back finished with 63 yards on 12 carries and caught three of his five targets for 28 yards. This game was another instance where David Montgomery took over in the red zone and took the touchdowns instead of Gibbs. Despite that, Gibbs has remained at a higher value in PPR formats since he returned to being involved in the passing game. He might have a tough time against a stout Vikings defense in Week 7 though.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has failed to catch a pass in the last two games (although he did get 20 yards and a receiving touchdown on a lateral in Week 3). It's the first time in his young career that he's failed to log a reception in back-to-back games. Thankfully for fantasy football, he's averaging 13.5 carries and 71 rushing yards per game and has failed to score a touchdown just once. The Dallas Cowboys have allowed 17 receptions to running backs this season, the fifth-lowest mark in the league. However, the 222 yards they've given up to the position is the sixth-most. Even if Gibbs can't break off a long reception, the Cowboys' defense is banged up and has been susceptible against the run. Gibbs and his counterpart David Montgomery should be viewed as top-12 running backs this week.
