According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (hand) did not practice on Wednesday. Carr has been sidelined since suffering this injury during their Week 14 victory over the New York Giants. While sidelined, Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler have each been given starting opportunities. While Carr has expressed interest in returning this season, seeing him open the week as a non-participant is not a positive sign. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the week. If Carr cannot play, Spencer Rattler will likely get his third-straight start. Last weekend, during his loss to the Raiders, he threw for 218 yards, one score, and two interceptions. He would be viewed as a risky QB2 facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi said on Monday that the team will evaluate where quarterback Derek Carr (hand) is this week after he didn't make much progress last week when they simulated some game-like situation. The head coach said the function the Saints are looking for with Carr is mostly taking a snap, having grip strength, and being able to switch hands. Carr has been out since fracturing his left (non-throwing) hand in Week 14. While the veteran signal-caller still wants to play, the Saints have been eliminated from postseason contention and won't risk the QB's health if they aren't satisfied with his progress this week. The 33-year-old has once again battle a multitude of injuries in 2024 and has been a low-upside, low-end QB2 in fantasy, averaging 18.0 points per game, which ranks him as the QB23. Rookie Spencer Rattler will make another start if Carr is eventually ruled out.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Las Vegas Raiders. The 33-year-old will miss his third-straight game and set his sights on returning during the final week to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carr sustained this hand injury during their Week 14 victory over the New York Giants. Carr was also unable to return to practice all week. As a result, rookie Spencer Rattler will get another start. Last week, the 24-year-old threw for just 153 yards and added 28 yards on the ground during their loss to the Green Bay Packers. While he is not a viable option in 1QB formats this weekend, he should be in a better position to succeed as top wideout Chris Olave (concussion) was able to return to practice this week and is in a good position to suit up despite his questionable tag.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (hand) was listed as a non-participant in practice yet again on Thursday. Carr fractured his left (non-throwing) hand in the Week 14 win over the New York Giants but has missed the last two contests. The 33-year-old veteran signal-caller is battling hard to try and play before the end of the regular season, but with just two games left, it's unlikely we'll see Carr again. Rookie Spencer Rattler has been in over his head the last two weeks as the replacement for Carr, but to be fair, he has very little to work with on a banged-up offense. Rattler is on track to make his third straight start this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders if Carr is ruled out, which he likely will be on Friday's final injury report. If Carr doesn't make it back the next two weeks, he'll finish with a disappointing 2,145 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 10 starts.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (left hand) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimation. The Saints' didn't hold a practice, but if they had, Carr would not have participated. The veteran quarterback is reportedly still regaining strength in left hand after suffering a fracture against the New York Giants back in Week 14. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi recently relayed that Carr didn't want to be shut down for the final two games of the regular season, but the 33-year-old is at the mercy of his injury and recovery. Spencer Rattler was the Saints' quarterback against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16, completing just 15 passes for 153 yards while taking three sacks and losing a fumble. The rookie's poor performance wound up in a 34-0 Saints loss, with New Orleans being the first team held scoreless in 2024. Rattler will remain the Saints' starter if Carr is unable to play against his old team, the Las Vegas Raiders, in Week 17.
