San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (head) returned to Saturday's postseason game against the Packers. The wideout caught both targets for 24 yards before exiting for the blue medical tent for a concussion evaluation. However, he's good to go, which is good news for the Niners, a team that was held scoreless by the Packers defense in the first quarter.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (head) is questionable to return to Saturday's postseason battle with the Packers. Many believed he suffered a foot injury. However, he lost a shoe, although he took a hard hit moments later and ended up in the blue medical tent. Samuel appeared to be getting hot before exiting, catching both targets for 24 yards. San Francisco hasn't had an easy time with the Packers thus far, so the team needs Samuel back on the field. But if he doesn't return, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle should see more attention from Brock Purdy.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is primed for a big game in the team's Divisional Round home matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Over his last five full regular season games, the dual-threat player averaged 21.5 half-PPR points, which placed him third in the NFL among wide receivers in that time. Green Bay's pass defense has been leaky recently, allowing the seventh-most points to fantasy wide receivers over the last five weeks of the regular season. In the Wild Card Round last week, the Packers allowed CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup to combine for 213 yards receiving. The weather in Santa Clara during the game is expected to be moderately windy and rainy, but San Francisco should find a way to get Samuel heavily involved regardless. He'll be a top-2 option for fantasy players this week.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was rested for roughly half of Sunday's 21-20 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers had little to play for having already locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and chose to protect the playmaker from injury for a large chunk of the game. Samuel didn't see a touch or target after the first quarter, finishing with two catches on as many targets for 15 yards and one carry for 11 yards. Samuel will finish the 2023 campaign at or near the overall WR10 slot in half-PPR scoring despite missing three games due to injury.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be a risky play in Week 18's meaningless home matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. In Week 17 at Washington, Samuel totaled 72 all-purpose yards with a touchdown. The score was his 12th of the season, with eight of those touchdowns coming in his last five games. The matchup is good on Sunday, as the Rams have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers but there are other factors at play. First off, with San Francisco having sewn up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, they'll rest quarterback Brock Purdy and start Sam Darnold which is a downgrade for Samuel. In addition, the 49ers haven't divulged if Samuel will get his usual snap share or if he'll be benched at a certain point. Samuel can do more with fewer touches than the average receiver but fantasy managers should be aware of the playing-time risk. Samuel is being considered a WR2 this week.
