On one hand, Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has one of his best matchups of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. On the other, it has been pretty difficult for fantasy managers to trust the veteran tight end. The former Dallas Cowboy has not finished as a top-15 fantasy tight end in any week this season, and he is now coming off a season-low one catch on two targets last week. The Colts rank among the bottom five against fantasy tight ends, though Schultz had just three catches for 16 yards in the first meeting in Week 1. He should be considered a TE2 despite the enticing matchup.
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz started his day with a first-quarter catch for 28 yards, but that accounted for all of his receiving production in a 24-22 loss at Green Bay. The 28-year-old tight end actually led the team in receiving, but only because Houston threw for a paltry 86 passing yards against the Packers. Schultz was targeted just twice in the game, his lowest total of the 2024 season thus far. The veteran will look for a better day in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz is a fringe starter with some target volume upside in Week 7 at Green Bay. The 28-year-old has been among the letdown draft picks at tight end, ranking 25th at the position through six games. However, the Stanford product still remains a playable option with top Houston receiver Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve. The Texans have targeted Schultz 14 times in the past two games, and Green Bay ranks 28th against fantasy tight ends. If there were ever a time to break his touchdown drought 11 straight regular-season games without a score this week would be a good candidate.
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz is a playable option with a decent matchup in Week 6 against the New England Patriots. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing fantasy season so far, but the silver lining is that his target percentage has gone up three weeks in a row and he's still an every-down player, averaging nearly 87% of Houston snaps. Further, Houston's targets leader, receiver Nico Collins, is now on injured reserve. At this stage, fantasy managers have to be realistic with their expectations for the former Dallas Cowboy: he'll play most of the game and earn a handful of targets on a good offense, but he's dependent on touchdowns for game-changing weeks.
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz enters Week 5 against Buffalo coming off his most productive game of the season, albeit for just three catches and 34 receiving yards. The veteran tight end is still playing a ton of snaps for Houston nearly 84% but he hasn't been the pass-catching option fantasy managers had hoped thus far. However, Buffalo blitzes less than any team in the league and Houston's backfield has been impacted by injuries, possibly opening the door for a higher volume of short-yardage throws that could benefit a tight end. Still, Schultz has been tough to trust in a Texans offense with many mouths to feed.
