The Houston Texans have requested to interview Brian Johnson for their vacant offensive-coordinator position. Johnson is currently the passing game coordinator with the Washington Commanders. He was the offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. After that, Johnson joined the Commanders staff last offseason, but he might be done with that after one season. It's no surprise that Johnson is getting looked at for OC jobs after the season Jayden Daniels put together this past season. He did a fine job as the Eagles offensive coordinator, so maybe it's time for him to try it again.

The Washington Commanders are expected to hire former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson to a prominent offensive staff role, according to a source. Johnson interviewed for several head-coaching jobs this cycle despite lasting only one year as the Eagles' offensive coordinator. In D.C., he'll join former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was hired to lead head coach Dan Quinn's offense in 2024. Johnson will likely serve as Washington's passing-game coordinator. Quinn and Johnson both coached at the University of Florida, but not at the same time, while Kingsbury and Johnson both coached at the University of Houston, but not at the same time. Johnson was the quarterbacks coach for the Eagles in 2021 and 2022 before being promoted to offensive coordinator last year.

The New Orleans Saints will interview former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson for their vacant offensive-coordinator position next week, according to a source. In addition to the Saints, Johnson has already interviewed for the same position with the Cleveland Browns and is expected to interview with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent the last two years as the Eagles' offensive coordinator and was promoted to the position to replace Nick Sirianni after serving as quarterbacks coach. Philly's offense was inconsistent in 2023, although they did finish the season ranked seventh in points scored and eighth in total yards. Their downfall late in the year was the fact that they scored fewer than 20 points in five of their last seven games, including the wild-card playoff loss to the Buccaneers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to interview former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey for their vacant offensive-coordinator position, according to sources. The Bucs had interest in Johnson last year as well before settling on Dave Canales, who was just hired on Thursday to be the Carolina Panthers' next head coach. In addition to the Buccaneers, Johnson is also a candidate for the same position with the Cleveland Browns. Dorsey, who was fired in the middle of the season by Buffalo, also interviewed for the Browns' offensive-coordinator gig this week.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson will not return to the team next season, according to NFL sources. Head coach Nick Sirianni will have to replace both his offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator this offseason after the team collapsed down the stretch of the 2023 campaign, ultimately losing badly in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has been mentioned as a possibility to take over for Johnson, but he won't be among the top candidates for the job. The 36-year-old Johnson was in his first season as offensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2023. Prior to that, he helped quarterback Jalen Hurts develop into an MVP candidate in 2022 as the team's QBs coach. But Hurts threw a career-high 15 interceptions in 2023 and the Eagles fell in most statistical categories under Johnson.
