The Patriots have struggled to contain opposing wideouts through two games this season, giving Lazard a sliver of hope for a big outing. That being said, he falls into the desperation flex category heading into Week 3 because of his inconsistency in the Jets offense.

Lazard can be left on fantasy benches heading into Week 3's Thursday night game against the New England Patriots.

Lazard will look for an encore performance in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans on the road. The Titans represent a plus matchup for Lazard as they allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2023. It is unclear whether Lazard will remain a major piece of the Jets passing offense moving forward but he was a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers a few years back when both played for the Green Bay Packers. That puts Lazard on the map as a solid flex option heading into Week 2.

The Lazard/Aaron Rodgers connection from Green Bay appears to be alive and well with the Jets as the two hooked up for a 36-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Lazard's second touchdown came from Tyrod Taylor late in the fourth quarter in garbage time. That being said, Lazard had a career year with Rodgers two years ago with the Packers and he could easily emerge as the No. 2 receiver in New York. He is worth a look on waivers heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

His additional volume is a direct result of Mike Williams (knee) opening the year on a limited workload. Lazard was quiet in 2023, catching just 23 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown. This year, however, he gets to play alongside Aaron Rodgers and will open the season with some extra volume. These factors won't be enough to put Lazard on the fantasy year, but don't be surprised if you hear his name called more often over these first few weeks of the season.
