New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard turned in one of the more unexpected fantasy outings in Week 1, catching six passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Lazard will look for an encore performance in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans on the road. The Titans represent a plus matchup for Lazard as they allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2023. It is unclear whether Lazard will remain a major piece of the Jets passing offense moving forward but he was a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers a few years back when both played for the Green Bay Packers. That puts Lazard on the map as a solid flex option heading into Week 2.

That being said, Lazard had a career year with Rodgers two years ago with the Packers and he could easily emerge as the No. 2 receiver in New York. He is worth a look on waivers heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

This year, however, he gets to play alongside Aaron Rodgers and will open the season with some extra volume. These factors won't be enough to put Lazard on the fantasy year, but don't be surprised if you hear his name called more often over these first few weeks of the season.

Treat Lazard as a low-upside WR5/6 flier at the end of drafts only for his chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers from their days with the Green Bay Packers, but he could be useful in a pinch if Williams' snaps are severely restricted early on.

The question is whether Williams can be the same player he was before his ACL surgery last fall. If he's not, Lazard could operate as New York's No. 2 option to help Rodgers balance the field. After a terrible 2023 showing, Lazard will be off the fantasy radar in most leagues unless Williams isn't ready for the start of the season.
