Kimani Vidal Could Have A Huge Role In Week 17

Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Kimani Vidal could end up in the starting role in a Week 17 game against the New England Patriots. Starter J.K. Dobbins (knee) has missed four games and is listed as questionable for this matchup and fill-in starter Gus Edwards (ankle) has already been ruled out. There's a chance that Dobbins is able to return and if he does he'll likely lead the backfield, but if Dobbins is also ruled out or limited in the game, Vidal would rise to the top of the depth chart and share it with Hassan Haskins. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on pre-game warmup reports, if Dobbins can't suit up, Vidal could be a solid RB2 option with a rather high floor.

Justin Herbert Has A Good Matchup For Week 17

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has a good matchup against the New England Patriots defense in Week 17. The Bolts and Pats will play on Saturday afternoon in New England, where Herbert will look to build on his overall QB7 against the Broncos in Week 16. Herbert looked much healthier last week, showing much more mobility on his injured ankle. He did not appear on the injury report at all heading into this game, his first time totally off the report in weeks. With running backs Gus Edwards (ankle) out and J.K. Dobbins (knee) questionable at best, the Chargers may need to rely on the passing game even though they are favored in this game. Herbert has a nice ceiling in this one and a fairly high floor as well.

Will Dissly, Hayden Hurst Listed As Questionable For Week 17

Los Angeles Chargers tight ends Will Dissly (shoulder) and Hayden Hurst (illness) are listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the New England Patriots. Dissly has been unable to suit up the past two weeks but was able to log a full practice on Thursday afternoon, which is a promising sign. Hurst returned from injured reserve last weekend but could only practice once this week (in a limited capacity) due to an illness. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring their status before Saturday's kickoff. Dissly has shown flashes of potential throughout the season, as he averaged a solid 10.8 PPR points per game during Weeks 7 through 11. If Dissly can suit up, he should see a majority of the opportunities. If Hurst can also suit up, both will limit each other's ceiling. If both tight ends are eventually ruled out, Stone Smartt would get the starting nod and would be a viable low-end TE1 in deeper 14+ team formats.

J.K. Dobbins Questionable To Face Patriots In Week 17

Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) is officially questionable to be activated from Injured Reserve and play against the New England Patriots on Saturday. The former Baltimore Ravens' second-round pick has missed the last four games after suffering a knee injury but could return to action after logging two limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, he did not practice on Thursday, so he might be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 17. Gus Edwards (ankle) won't play against the Patriots, so if Dobbins is also out, rookie Kimani Vidal and veteran Hassan Haskins will likely share touches. All Chargers' backs are risky fantasy options given all the uncertainty.

Gus Edwards Won't Play In Week 17

Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) did not practice on Thursday and has officially been ruled out of the game against the New England Patriots in Week 17. Edwards had his most productive game of the season last week against the Denver Broncos, posting 71 total yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, J.K. Dobbins (knee), who has missed the last four games on Injured Reserve, is listed as questionable for Saturday's AFC showdown. If Dobbins is activated, he should be considered a risky RB2 option for the fantasy football season finale. If Dobbins can't go, rookie Kimani Vidal and veteran Hassan Haskins will likely share touches in L.A.'s backfield.
