Jameson Williams Torches Bears Defense

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams got loose for an 82-yard touchdown reception and lit up the stat sheet with five catches for 143 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 win over the division-rival Chicago Bears. He did most of his damage on one play which he can do with his elite speed but he rewarded fantasy managers who took a chance on him in playoff matchups. Williams got behind the Chicago defense, hauled in the long pass from Jared Goff, and then raced the rest of the way for a touchdown. He saw seven targets in this game and made the most of them. With the healthy target total and his breakaway potential, Williams is looking like a solid option moving forward.

Jahmyr Gibbs Comes Through Against Bears

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had a productive game in the team's win at the Chicago Bears in Week 16. The talented running back rushed 23 times for 109 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown and added four catches for 45 receiving yards. Gibbs lived up to high expectations after holding onto the lead-back role in this matchup with fellow Lions running back David Montgomery (knee) missing this game. Gibbs has been very effective with Montgomery out of the lineup and he looks like one of the top fantasy running backs for championship week next week. The 23 carries are a very positive sign for his future outlook as those were a season-high. If he gets that many looks (23 carries and five targets), he is going to be very hard for opposing defenses to contain.

Jared Goff Has Big Day Against Bears

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a nice fantasy performance against the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 336 yards and three touchdown passes. Goff found Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta for his touchdown passes and was sharp in leading the Lions to a big 34-17 victory in Chicago. Goff took care of the football with no turnovers and came through for fantasy managers who started him in playoff matchups. With plenty of weapons in an explosive offense, the talented signal-caller is becoming one of the most reliable quarterbacks in fantasy.

David Montgomery Will Avoid Surgery, Eyes Divisional Round For Return

After considering three high-level medical opinions, Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (knee) has decided to forego surgery. He will rehab his MCL in hopes of returning to football action in time for the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. Montgomery has been a major contributor in Detroit this season, totaling 775 rushing yards, 341 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns. The Lions should feel good about their backfield with Jahmyr Gibbs leading the way, but getting Montgomery back in January would give them a major boost in their quest to make the Super Bowl.

Tim Patrick Looking To Keep Touchdown Streak Alive

Detroit Lions wide receiver Tim Patrick will be looking to keep his two-game touchdown streak going in a Week 16 divisional clash versus the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday. Patrick has seen a bigger role in the last two weeks against the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills, catching 10 of his 15 targets for 73 yards and three touchdowns. Prior to Week 14, though, Patrick hadn't seen more than four targets in a game. The 31-year-old veteran pass-catcher has 19 catches for 202 yards and the three TDs on 26 targets in his last five games, which has made him the WR29 in that span. With the elevated role of late, Patrick has settled in as Detroit's No. 3 receiver behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams in a high-volume passing offense. However, he's still more of a touchdown-dependent WR4/5 in fantasy that will be taking on a Bears defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest half-PPR points per game to wideouts in the last five weeks.
