Dak Prescott Plans To Work With Receivers Before Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (ankle) said he will do his trip with his pass-catchers before training camp kicks off at the end of July as he has done the last several years. Prescott said the plan for now is for receiver CeeDee Lamb to be in attendance. The 30-year-old caused a stir over the weekend when he was seen wearing a walking boot while on vacation, but he was wearing it strictly as a precaution after some soreness developed in his surgically repaired right ankle following two hard workouts. Prescott was just being cautious and does not anticipate it being an issue when camp begins. He had surgery on his ankle back in 2020 due to a compound fracture and dislocation. Prescott should be 100% for the start of the 2024 season and should be considered a solid midrange QB1 target after coming off a great 2023 campaign.

Dak Prescott No Longer In A Walking Boot

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (foot) recently suffered a right foot sprain, with a picture circulating showing the signal-caller wearing a walking boot on vacation. However, while speaking with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, he downplayed the significance of the photo while indicating the boot was worn during his vacation for precautionary reasons, something he's needed to do at times since suffering a right ankle compound fracture-dislocation in 2020. "The last time I went deep sea fishing, my ankle swole up," said Prescott. "I'm great." The 30-year-old is coming off one of his best seasons, finishing the 2023-24 campaign by throwing for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also completed a career-high 69.5% of his passes. Without question, Prescott's health will be something fantasy managers will monitor in 2024-25. But with the motivation to earn a new contract, another stellar year could be on the horizon. In a separate article by ESPN, Prescott is no longer wearing the boot, which is undoubtedly good news heading into training camp.

Dak Prescott Dealing With Foot Sprain, In A Walking Boot

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (foot) is dealing with a very minor foot sprain and has been for a few days. Prescott was seen with a walking boot on his right foot, but it's not considered to be anything that should affect his preparation for the 2024 season. The 30-year-old has been wearing his boot for around a week, but he should be able to shed it and be ready to go for the start of training camp at the end of the month. It's something worth watching as camp gets underway, but it's unlikely to affect Prescott's availability for the start of the 2024 campaign. Because of Prescott's lack of rushing ability, he'll be hard-pressed to be a high-end QB1 for fantasy managers, but he should have plenty of passing volume again in 2024 to maintain his status as a high-floor midrange QB1 target in fantasy drafts with one of the best receivers in the game at his disposal in CeeDee Lamb.

Brandin Cooks Has Looked Dynamic This Offseason

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks didn't make the impact many had hoped for in his first season with the organization. He caught just 54 passes for 657 yards, but his eight touchdowns kept him on the fantasy football radar. The six-time 1,000-yard receiver has now failed to reach 700 yards in two consecutive seasons, but he's reportedly looking like his old self offseason. "The Cowboys were 11-0 in the regular season when Cooks had at least 20 receiving yards and 0-5 when he had fewer than 20," wrote Saad Yousuf of the Athletic. "One of the most underrated players in Dallas, the 31-year-old Cooks still showed his signature speed while blowing past cornerbacks during OTAs." The former Saint, Patriot, Ram, and Texan is being selected outside the top 50 wide receivers in 2024 fantasy drafts, so he could be a steal at cost in the explosive Dallas offense. However, it's tough to ignore the statistical regression in recent seasons.

Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks Competing For WR3 Role

Dallas Cowboys wide receivers Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks are both candidates to open 2024 in the third slot on the depth chart behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com. Both players have showcased their talent during OTAs and are pushing to make the WR3 competition interesting this summer. In terms of the players' specific skill sets, Archer wrote, "Brooks was able to work through traffic well, especially on tight throws on slants. Tolbert worked all three receiver spots and was able to make plays at all different levels." There's clearly a path for both receivers to get involved this season, and Dallas has shown that its WR3 can have bursts of fantasy relevance in the past. Perhaps Tolbert or Brooks could be a late-round sleeper in redraft leagues this year.
