Cleveland Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Houston Texans after missing practice all week. Hopkins will miss his third straight game due to his hamstring injury. Riley Patterson, who has served as Cleveland's kicker the last two games with Hopkins out, will likely be elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster for Saturday's playoff contest. The 24-year-old was the Detroit Lions' primary kicker for 13 games this year before getting cut and latching on with the Browns. In 15 total games between both teams this year, he's gone 16-for-18 on field-goal tries and has miss three of his 44 extra-point attempts. Fantasy managers should be looking for better options at the position on wild-card weekend.
Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Saturday's wild-card contest against the Houston Texans. Tillman suffered a concussion in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals and now will have to sit out for his first career playoff game. With Tillman out and Amari Cooper (heel) expected to return after missing the final two regular season games, Cooper, Elijah Moore and David Bell should operate as Cleveland's top three wideouts against Houston this weekend. The 23-year-old Tillman was seeing more involvement for the Browns down the stretch, but he still finished his first year in the NFL with only 21 catches for 224 yards and no touchdowns on 44 targets over 14 games.
Cleveland Browns running backs Pierre Strong Jr. (back) and Kareem Hunt (groin) were both listed as limited at the team's practice on Wednesday. Both players were non-participants on Tuesday's report, but they both returned on Wednesday. Strong, who has been an infrequently used No. 3 RB for the Browns, could be questionable to suit up for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Houston Texans. Hunt, meanwhile, has been managing a groin injury in recent weeks but hasn't missed any time, so he should be available for wild-card weekend. The 28-year-old has been a change-of-pace option for Cleveland next to Jerome Ford this year after Nick Chubb (knee) suffered a season-ending knee injury early in the year. Hunt will be a low-cost, low-upside, touchdown-dependent DFS play against the Texans.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (ankle, hip) was listed as a limited participant in practice for the second straight day on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Justyn Ross (hamstring) returned to a limited practice after being a DNP on Tuesday. Toney is trending toward playing on super wild-card weekend this Saturday evening against the Miami Dolphins despite missing each of the final three games of the regular season. The Dolphins have been absolutely decimated by injuries on the defensive side of the ball in recent weeks, which is good news for a Chiefs offense that was rather mediocre during the regular season. Still, even if the 24-year-old Toney is active this weekend, he'll be a boom/bust DFS option with limited upside. In his first full year with KC, Toney had just 27 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown on 38 targets.
Cleveland Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) missed a second straight day of practice on Wednesday. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Tuesday that Hopkins is unlikely to play in the wild-card game on Saturday against the Houston Texans. The 33-year-old also missed the final two games of the regular season with his hamstring injury and isn't going to be available for fantasy managers this weekend. In his first year with Cleveland, Hopkins made 33 of his 36 field-goal attempts and 24 of his 26 extra-point tries in 15 games played. Riley Patterson filled in for Hopkins the last two weeks and went 6-for-7 on his extra points and made his only field-goal attempt. Before coming to Cleveland, the 24-year-old went 15-for-17 on field goals and 35-for-37 on extra points in 13 games for the Detroit Lions. Fantasy managers should look for better kicking options on wild-card weekend.
