Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said center Joel Embiid (knee) did not practice on Monday and hopes he'll get some activity in on Tuesday. The Sixers could be managing Embiid's practice reps, and he'll have until Wednesday's stop in Atlanta against the Hawks to get back on the court after missing Saturday's second game of a back-to-back with swelling in his left knee. The 29-year-old two-time scoring champion is on a rampage right now, notching 15 consecutive 30-point, 10-rebound efforts with averages of 36.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 triples, and 3.6 combined steals and plus blocks over this period. Paul Reed could start at the five for Philly again on Wednesday if Embiid can't get cleared.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is now listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Utah Jazz. The reigning MVP injured his knee in Saturday's loss to the New York Knicks, so it was surprising when he began the day without an injury designation. Head coach Nick Nurse indicated Embiid is a game-time decision. However, there's a good chance he'll join Tobias Harris (ankle) on the shelf for the meeting with the 16-20 Jazz. If that's the case, Paul Reed and Mo Bamba are the favorites to split time in the middle and are worth considering for streaming purposes.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Utah Jazz. The reigning MVP had another impressive outing in the loss to the Knicks on Friday and extended his 30-point or more scoring streak to 16 straight games. However, he suffered a knee injury during the contest, which gave him trouble at times. At any rate, the 76ers shouldn't have any problem taking down the Jazz, so it's possible Embiid won't see a full workload. Still, he remains a must-start in all fantasy formats.
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) finished with 30 points, 10 boards, and three blocks in Friday's loss to the New York Knicks. The reigning MVP extended his 30-point scoring streak to 16 games. Unfortunately, he suffered a left knee injury, although he finished the game. Embiid downplayed the ailment while speaking to the media after the contest. However, fantasy managers are used to this type of scenario from him over the years, so there's a good chance he may not play in Saturday's meeting with the Utah Jazz. With Tobias Harris (ankle) also in danger of missing that one, Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. could be the primary scoring options versus Utah. Paul Reed and Mo Bamba could also fill the void in the middle if Embiid misses time, with both men warranting streaming consideration in deeper fantasy setups, even if it's just for a game or two.
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse says there won't be any minute restrictions for center Joel Embiid (ankle) in his return to Tuesday's lineup versus the Chicago Bulls. The Sixers went 2-2 during Embiid's four-game absence due to a sprained right ankle, and they'll get a full dose of the NBA's leading scorer if needed against this undermanned Bulls team. Embiid is right back in the MVP conversation after taking home the 2022-23 award. In his last nine games before going down, Embiid was recording an incredible 40.2 points (60.6% shooting from the field), 12.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.2 triples, and 3.5 combined steals plus blocks per contest. Paul Reed will revert back to Philly's bench on Tuesday after being a serviceable fantasy streamer, and he can also be returned to waiver wires for the time being.
